We then headed south over Lost trail pass, crossing back into Idaho and down to the North Fork of the Salmon River, and into Salmon..some noice views along the way.

As we drop down Lost Trail we are following along the North Fork of the Salmon River... until you get to North Fork. This is where the main Salmon River joinders and then veers west into the river of no return wilderness, eventually popping out at Riggins, where we will meet again later. For now we head up stream to the river's namesake town.

We were thirsty when we rolled into Salmon so we stopped at the brewpub for locally crafted beverages. This place is great!

Salmon is a great little town, with whitewater access.. A major jump-off point for all kinds of outdoor adventures.

With our thirst slaked, we made like Lonesome Larry and migrated upstream. This is a world class motorcycling road.

We made a quick stop in Challis.

We kept on heading up the road to see what's just over the next hill...

We stayed in Stanley at the Sawtooth Hotel, which I give high praise to. We also had an excellent meal in their dining room, they have a website if your are so inclined.

If you want to stay on the cheap they have these cabins for you.:D

We awoke to fine Idaho day, and after some caffeinated beverages at the fancy little coffee shop we got kitted up to make our way on Hwy 21 toward Lowman, Garden Valley, Banks, Mc Call, then to Riggins.

It was pretty overcast and threatening rain in McCall. And the place was overrun with peeps on the holiday weekend, so we bailed out and headed on down to Riggins ID.

The ride down the Little Salmon River is nice..

Thanks! The riding and traveling over the past 5 years is a blast. It is the most fun I have had in decades. I hope to keep going for a bit too.

I really like your thread, and plan to meander about some of the places you have described.

The rest of the story...... not by Paul Harvey tho.

We were greeted with central Idaho's sunny blue skies for our ride home this morning. After plenty of coffee, we kitted up for a ride back in time.

Just north of Riggins you come to the time-travel bridge. Hit it at 88 mph and the clocks change by an hour!:D

    Took a couple quick pics..

    Sailed downstream along the Salmon...

We decided to check out the Old White Bird grade road..got some stunning views.

We zoomed down the hill into Grangeville for an awesome meal at Oscars, then took Hwy 13 down the Harpster grade where you get this view of the S Fork of the Clearwater rushing away from Elk City toward Kooskia.

Took one last pics down by Kamiah, and rolle for home.

Had a great trip, thanks for looking. More to come.....

Decided to take a run up the St Joe River. I had a gorgeous ride down Hwy 97 along the lake CDA shore on the way to St Maries. Re-filled w/ fuel in St.M. cuz I planned a long upstream run.

I didn't take too many pics for the first hundred plus miles because I was busy behind bars.

I rolled into Avery, which I think is a pretty neat place.. We have stayed at Scheffys before, it is always a good stop.

After a little break I motored on up the canyon. It was a great day to be riding here..

I headed up top to the MT / ID "line" on Gold Pass..

    Great Views, eh?

Ran back down to the river and tried my luck, but didn't catch any lunkers..

    Just enjoyed the river
    [IMG]

And had a fun ride in the canyon..

I will come back again when I have more time! Cheers

Last weekend we loaded up all our gear and headed up the river to meet some friends for a weekend of camping. We went up the North Fork of the CdA River to Shoshone Creek then seven more miles up the creek with no paddles.. but I did have the DRZ.

    Shoshone Cr.

Saturday morning I headed out for Spion Kop Pt, which is a stunning overlook of the CdA River canyon... I got this view....

    which created a traffic jam.

Just past the big dead tree was another, then another, so I turned around without reaching the overlook, maybe next time..Some random shots along the way...

Since I wasn't tired yet I headed up from Jordan Saddle toward the MT / ID state line til I got here....

    Played in the mud.

Got some cool views of the Cabinet Mountains across the Clark Fork valley below...

You can see the Clark Fork River if you squint...

    The DRZ's view..

Got thirsty so I headed back to camp! :freaky

Sunday morning started out again down by the creek.... after lots of camp coffee...

Headed up the trail toward the Little Guard Lookout. The gate was closed and I considered breaching it, but went to this overlook instead.

Rode up some other creek to a little waterfall
    [IMG]

Had to get back to town... see ya next time

Today I had a secret spot in mind............ My friend had always told me as to how he and his dad used to go camping near Cusick, WA at the "secret spot"... Well nowadays he is taking his boys there.. heres a few shots along the way...

    Stopped by Spirit Lake
    [IMG]

My boat rental deal didn't turn out like I had hoped..

Had to cross the Pend Oreille River
    [IMG]

Headed up the roads til I saw the sign....

I think they learn to hide from aliens..

No pics of the secret spot.... highly classified! After I escaped I headed over to Bayview and hung out at the floathouse...

Til next week when we head up to BC......

Well, I have had a little time off. Not the kind you really look forward to though. I ended up requiring some back surgery, which was really not what I had in mind for time off in the summer...and then my son was married in July. That was fun ! But the summer has just really started to slip by, so it was high time to make time for a weekend or two on the moto...

A couple few weeks ago I made a loop de loop around Lake Roosevelt, and ventured into the Northern territories of WA.. this happened over two weekend trips, so I will just give you some highlights of where this went.

Started out getting outta town on a drizzly Friday out around Long Lake, which is NW of Spokane.. LL Dam is cool.......

This is good place to see Osprey.

From there I headed up toward Springdale to ride one of my favorite roads over to Hunter,, but it is wet and gloomy out and the deer are plentiful, so I will take it pretty easy.. This is a really cool road.

I moseyed on down to the Hunters Park on Lake Roosevelt to camp for the night...

Tarped up to enjoy the pitter patter of light rain...:lol3

Well it rained a bit on and off all Friday nite, but the sky was clearing up as the day greeted me in the morning. After tidying up my camp gear, I head north along the lake toward Gifford, where my next ferry boat awaits.. but first I meander about in the hills from Cedonia to Addy, then back to Gifford. These are super fun roads! I cross the lake on the free ferry to Inchelium, and motor north to Kettle Falls.......yep these are actual town names..

Then I came to Curlew....cool place, and the Boulder Creek Rd getting here is a blast...:evil
    [IMG]

Now I'm off toward Chesaw, WA
    [IMG]

    Chesaw at last!

Next stop is almost Canada... Molson.

With my thirst quenched, thanks to the friendly gal at the Chesaw Tavern, I set my compass on West and noted the dot on the map named Molson. Molson sits out at the end of a spur road, almost at the Canada line, but there is no (legal) crossing on this route.

If you don't mind riding a road like this, you can get to Molson, WA.:evil
    [IMG]

    You will get to here.......

I rode on into town and saw this....

Inside the old school house you will see this. What the local historical society has done is astounding.
