whats a better buy...-a crated SCRAMBLER 2006-brand new... or a new 2008 w/black engine cases.....??? i can save up to $2000.00 if i buy the older model..im leaning to the 2006,and is it possible to get say a thruxton,or bonnie and put the high pipes and mods [for off-road ]on these??..the hp rating is a little better on those models so it makes sense no??? im on the fence about getting a triumph as i am trading in my 2004 mint ZZR600..nice ride BTW..for.. "something completely different"..:1drink

If you intend to keep the bike I would buy 2006 model & put $2000 you saved into suspension & exhaust bling to pimp your ride. Way cheaper & easier than trying to alter a bonnie or thrux , tho certainly doable as Orpheus has shown I suspect it is not a cost effective option

Dual Star was very helpful to me - but maybe they were just having an off day

Yeah. To be honest, most of my modifications would have happened whether I had a Bonnie or a Scrambler, though the luggage rack would have been fabricated and the bash plate wouldn't have been fabricated! Also I wouldn't have been able to fit my crash bars and I may not have needed modre's peg lowering kit.

If I could go back in time, I would start with a Scrambler. But things being as they are, I'm not too disappointed.

Now, there's one pleased and proud Scrambler owner! :1drink

Great scenery too - just like here, except you have mountains and snow, and all we have is moss and mold. :lol3

I had a Triumph Scrambler for about a year. I was one of only a handful in the state of Iowa that owned one. It was a great bike. I rode it a lot off road in Iowa, on all the gravel and B roads we have here. It always handled really well. The only concern was that the gravel would fly up when you go fast and scratch the great paint job on the tank. The off-road accessories helped some. Fun bike. Easy to handle. Always attracted lots of attention in town!

I pick up my late 2005 Scrambler with 3300 miles on the clock this weekend :D :D

The bike came into my local dealer at 5pm on friday night, I saw in on their forums at 5.30, It was sold after I came back from a test ride at 10am Saturday morning. I looked like an idiot when i walked back into the showroom with this stupid grin on my face, the only words I could utter were " I will take it'.

You might recognize this image as this is taken straight from an article my Scrambler was used in. Its had a few bits added since this pic so i will post that at a later date

OK! So what is the practical technical difference between the '06 silver engine cases and the '07 and '08 black engine cases...other than the obvious, one is silver the other black...:lol3?

06 & 07's are carbied, and have screw on badges, '08's are fuel injected, have stick on badges. everything else is just colour.
