Nope, tried there first, the place we bought Susan's bike also handles multiple brands and used bikes and they don't seem too anxious to sell manuals. I bought a Yamaha Virago there once but found the manual online. I was just wondering if there were a good source for shop manuals or failing that what everyone else was using i.e. clymer, Haynes etc...
I am fully aware that the "perfect" screen doesn't exist but as an all weather rider I would prefer something to keep the rain and snow off just a bit. In the winter I'll also attach a set of lowers to the forks to deflect some of the nasties.
I've got 5 different helmets, a modular for winter, an open face for spring and fall, and shorties of various lengths. I'm still not happy with any of them.
Nothing I've used is worth the overhead of racket they make - unless it is a barn door size.
Then that effects the bike detrimentally in other ways. May as well take the car.
Can anyone confirm if the Triumph part number for the Scrambler service manual is the same as the one for the Bonneville? Or, asked another way, does the Bonneville service manual also cover the Scrambler? Reason I ask is that no service manual is listed in the Scrambler accessories on Triumph's U.S. web site. The Bonneville manual p/n is T3859909.
The Bonneville service manual covers the Scrambler and the Thruxton. It is a fairly detailed book with call outs and drawings-photos for the different models.

I got my E-99 to egt my license today, have to take a trip down to the DMV and get the license, no more excuses.
The dealer told me the Scrambler comes with $600 of setup and shipping fees, combines with $550 of kansas taxes! *bullshit* *ahem*
Looks like my $1000 down payment wont even touch the principle...very sad.
I was reading an article where the Brits had a little motorcycle rally over 55LB (?) motorcycle tax. Why havent Americans done this yet? Are we that complacent?

Yep I was happy to see that. I bought the manual for Jodie's Bonneville and it covers my Scrambler.
Bross, seeing as you have one of each in the shed, can you enlighten us on your thoughts between them?
I still have dreams of a Black Bonnie with bags etc next to my Scrambler in the shed, but obviously talk myself out of it, thinking two bikes so similar would not make sense (especially as for similar money I could try a Ural....hmmm)

Having spent some time aboard a T 100, a Thruxton and now the very happy owner of a Scrambler (which currently shares the shed with a 05 ST), I plan to have all of these bikes side by side in my stable.
The Thruxton, Bonnie & Scrambler may share the same platform but they are different motorcycles. With a bit of personalisation they can be very different and specialised motorcycles.
For instance I wouldnt take a Thruxton on a fire trail and I wouldnt do a track day on a Scrambler. The Bonnie is great for punting along country roads, touring etc and chicks dig them!
I'm talking new bikes here - the game has changed with fuel injection.
I've done thousands of K's testing all of them. I like all of them - a lot - but they are far too similar motorcycles to have one of each.
Now that it's EFI, Scrambler does everything the others do with a change of wheels.
The others are handlebars, footpegs and cosmetics. All of which bolt on if you really want to change them.
the 270 v 360 crank doesn't really make any difference with the EFI either.
Has anyone installed a Norman Hyde 4.9 Gal. (UK) Tank on a Scrambler? If so, could you post a picture of your bike with the Norman Hyde tank? How was the installation? How is the handling? Top heavy? What was the total cost?
Any other solutions for getting a larger tank or gas capacity?
They're both new, I just did Jodie's first service at 800kms, about 25 of those with me on board. My Scrambler only has 600kms on it. But I had been riding it for a week straight and hopped on Jodie's Bonnie the other day, just to blow the water off after a wash. ;-) And it felt totally different than the Scrambler. It's probably mostly due to the bars, but the Bonnie felt smoother. The Scrambler just feels rough around the edges, it's not a shaker and I find it very smooth, and I like and prefer the "roughness". I wouldn't be as happy on the Bonneville. I really don't have enough miles on either for a decent comparo, so will defer to Dave who has a lot more miles on them than I do, but will report back after we log some decent miles.
Is your Scrambler fuel injected?
And don't defer - I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken. :huh

I asked about why the 2008 Scrambler (black engine) at the local dealership wasnt EFI, the salesman told me that the EFI Scramblers were only being sold in Europe for the time being. Um what? Was he just blowing smoke?
Why would Triumph go through the hassle of 2 different models?

And for what its worth, I do like Davorally's givi windscreen, but you are right DD, I do think the Scrambler looks better sans screen. Back to better questions...
