I was told the Excel rims were not available in black for the Scrambler, at least in the USA.
These guys will take your stock hubs and put them in tubed Sun rims in black, I believe:

Tvscum, well setup Scrambler! Thanks to your terrific front fork write-up, I have a set of Bitubo front fork cartridges awaiting installation. One question, since you didn't use new copper washers under the damper rod bolts, have you experienced any leakage?
No leakage at all. I did use blue loctite on those bottom bolts. The writeup Manray is referring to is here:

I searched the thread but didn't find any info on folks using the 905 big bore kit from Triumph Performance USA. Who's running that here?
I want some more grunt for lugging the sidecar around, and the 905 kit looks to be just the ticket!

I'm running a TPUSA 904 kit, 813 cams and flatside carbs. I'm currently running a Zard crosspipe exhaust. I did the work myself with tech help from Carlos at TPUSA. It feels like a completely different bike from a stock Scrambler. I also dropped what I figure to be about 20 lbs with weight reduction mods.
Well worth the work and money in my estimation. Highly recommended. It would push your hack around better, that's for sure. Anything else you'd like to know?

Thanks for the response! Did you do all the work at once, or did you try just the 905 kit first?
I do everything bassackwards. I did the carbs and cams first to see if I could get out on the cheap. It did make a difference, but the people I talked to who I trust said do the BB kit too, so I did. I'm doing some long term savings for a big valve head and upgraded ignitor. Remember, there are core exchanges for the cylinders and cams, so you got to factor in some down time.
Ah, did the cams help a whole lot? Which grind "version" did you get?
Also, what was the turnaround time for the new bits? Couple weeks?
They were TPUSA "813's". Cams improved some, but the whole bike came alive with all of the engine mods together. And yes, figure a few weeks maximum. I'd give TPUSA a call and see what they can do with the turnover time. They are a great bunch to work with.
My new-to-me 07 Scrambler has had the airbox removal mod, and I've had a bit of trouble keeping the starter relay from getting wet, which causes the starter to engage with the turn of the ignition key and then keep running. I've re- routed the relay so it's oriented more up-and-down and I've taped the socket up snugly to seal the wire side, but the whole installation is less Bristol than I'd really like. I have to think this is a pretty common malady, and I'm wondering what some others have done to remedy it.

I have the Mitas branded one on the front of my dakar (same tyre), 5500km of desert touring and still looks good.
