Had to share...just back from a trip to the TT where I rode a friend's 600 Fazer. Nice bike, very competent but boring as all hell. I went out on the Tigger first thing Saturday morning and it took me all of 5 seconds to realize (again) that this bike is simply fantastic. I had a grin from ear to ear while riding it - Fazer did nothing for me.

After reading this post, I decided to check my oil. I was down about 1/4 of a liter. I've put 3000 km on it since the last oil change so I think that is acceptable. Especially considering a lot of it is "spirited" driving ;
I know exactly what you mean...
I stopped at the truck scale on the way home and weighed the whole setup at 350 kilos. With me off the bike the weight was 250 kilos. This scale measures to the nearest 10 kilos, so fairly crude. I had the suspension preload on the rear turned 100% in with the luggage and about 60% at different times. There seemed very little difference and no discernible difference in the rear end swaying.
Thanks, so ~220 lbs and 60%... that sounds about right - I'm probably about a 160 and am finding 30/40% to be a good compromise between ground clearence, comfort and balance to the front end.
Guess you can forget the two-up touring though.

I think I paid 20 tops to put the GPS in exactly the same place on my Tigger.
Or you could just drill two holes into the alloy screen bracket and achieve the same result for the cost of the diamond RAM mount http://www.ram-mount-uk.com/ram-b-238.htm.
Somebody posted awhile back looking for a guinea pig with a Madstad setup. they were curious about removing the screen for summer use. Well, here ya go
I kinda like how it looks.
But, how does it work? Well, you definitely get more airflow, and if that is your thing this is a great option. At 6'1", 32" inseam there is no buffeting or turbulence. It's a nice ride, and definitely helps on a warm day, but at the expense of noise. It's loud. Not stock screen loud, but loud enough.
I tried it with and without the winglets and it didn't seem to make a huge difference. I put about 50 miles on it on the way to work this morning on freeway and mostly backroads. I'll probably put the screen back on, but I'll be removing on really hot days to aid in cooling.
Oh, and keep your eyes on the your headlights. Mine has developed a nasty condensation problem. the dealer is "pretty sure" it's under warranty. :huh
^^ I did a 200 miler without my Madstad screen.... I concur, my screen went back on the next day and is staying on. I'll take a little less noise over a little more cooling airflow.
Another thing you can do with the Madstad is turn the screen upside down and remount it. Works because the mounting holes are symmetrical. First time I heard of this I thought the guy was joking but he demonstrated it and I became a believer.
Looks a little strange but a good trick if you are caught on a hot day in slow traffic.
Yeah. It makes me want to get a really small screen to try. Mark talked me into a 20" screen and I generally run it pretty low. I wish I got a smaller screen.
Update on my Sargent seat build:
I received a call from one of the owners at Sargent last week. He asked if he could keep my seat a bit longer, says they were waiting on a loaned Tiger to show up. They wanted to use my seat for the foam development process for their upcoming T800 seat. It sounded like a fairly time consuming and tedious process, but the end result is several people tuning and re-tuning the seat foam and seat shape over a course of several days until they get it exactly the way they want it. For me it sounds like quite probably the most attention given to any custom or aftermarket seat I've ever ordered, and I've had many over the years.
Once it comes back I'll post my thoughts and some photos. Probably be a couple more weeks at this point. I'm pretty confident it will be everything I've been hoping for.
Yeah - I'm well aware of that solution and I do like it but I'm considering the tt one for two reasons:
1. No drilling so no damage to stock setup (removable with no permanent changes)
2. The ram ball is higher and more accessible so if I want to remove the gps cradle it's easier and neater.
I think I'm going to go with the setup that goes on the risers anyway.
Help! In Death Valley, 1000 miles from home, check engine light on (800XC), service manual obviously at home. Light came on after I killed the bike by putting it in gear with the kick stand down. Or at least that's when I noticed it. Bike starts and runs just as great as it always has. Need to verify this is a standard OBd-2 plug that I can go to an auto parts store and get the code read. If that's the case, is somebody with access to a service manual kind enough to get in touch with me via PM and then phone to tell me what the code means? I'd like to have that info before I go way out of my way to the dealer in Fresno. Once again, just need to confirm that I can get the code read anywhere and then find out what it means. Internet service should be much better tomorrow, but it is almost non existant where I'm at. Thanks in advance.
If the bike is running fine, the code may well go away on it's own after 3 (IIRC) heat cycles (start, up to temp and then cool down). Sorry I can't help with the rest.
Good luck AV, you put your Tigger through more than most so we need to keep you running....
I have a service manual but I have no idea if the Tiger is OBDII compliant.
Is what I said about the heat cycles sound right Bueller ? Pretty sure that's how it is on my Sprint.
