OK, I took the snorkle off, and the instructions say"replace the snorkle with the uni-filter. The rubber end of the uni-filter is nowhere near the same dimension as the snorkle "snout". the cover over the ABS is obscuring my view of the intake. Do I have to remove the cover to be able to install the uni?
The picture shows the cover not in place even after installation. Anybody with ABS installed theirs yet?
In retrospect, why couldn't you cut down one of the larger, locally available foam filters (uni or otherwise) and fit it into the stock snorkle?
Got mine in the mail. Thanks again for taking the time and putting in the effort so we could all get a great product. You get about 6 months of good karma just for doing this.
Filter arrived and installed. Have to say it doesn't go on in 5 mins!!! Takes some serious finagling to get it on on an ABS bike!! You do have to take off the ABS cover to get it on!!
Payment sent today, sorry for the delay I haven't been on the site for a bit. Thanks for putting this together.
Way out here in southern Oregon, I received my two prefilters. Project for next weekend... Thanks! Ken
Arrived safely in Northern California too. Thanks for organizing this!
AHA! The snorkle snout fits into the snorkle which fits into the airbox. This dimension is the same as the uni-filter.
FYI, the ABS cover and the 800 covers need to come off to access the snorkle, and then it's still a bitch to finagle into place.
And, to answer my own question- I did cut down a foam filter, oiled it and inserted it into the snorkle "snout". seemed fine in the garage, but no oooomph past 1/4 throttle-just slowly gains speed. Back in the garage, the foam was trying to get sucked thru the snorkle into the airbox. The vertical plastic bar prevented that from happening. So there ya' go. Don't do it!
mine arrived yesterday. thanks for putting this all together. cheers
Thank you for your appreciation. I hope your filters work well for you.
Filter arrived the other day . Thanks again Galen, very cool!
