Yes, watching the CP at the moment (6:00 pm in Saudi) is like watching paint dry. Tonight they are setting up in the maintenance area so should be interesting at least.

I put the time lapse camera on... I can now tell you the rate of which a sand dune moves across the desert floor... in a 10 knot breeze... :rofl

That was about the extent of the action, 90% of the time... :lol3

It was a bit interesting later as the field came thru though...

Today the EAO livestreaming camera is hanging out at the start/finish CP, where the riders will pass three times on their attempt to do four laps of the Merzouga/ErgChebi dunes... :deal

    Bad new i.m afraid.

The rally has been going well with 3 stage wins and getting a good time gap on the rest of the field, but yesterday stage 3 I started the last profi loop in the big dunes but miss read a dune due to the stans storm, the resut is a broken collar bone, even though I managed to complete the stage and still win the day, but am not able to start today.

No real pain from the shoulder but the 2 broken ribs are a big sore.

Going to stay with the rally and help the other guys get to the end before getting broken bones plated back in the uk, you really dont want Morracan hospitals any where near you.

    Oh well always another rallly.

    Wes

That sucks, take your time to heal. I thought the final lap was cancelled (probably too late after you crashed)

    Shit Wes...

Terrible luck... kudos for finishing with a win yesterday though... broken collarbone and all... :huh:bow (man, that's hard as nails... or were you just on the adrenalin rush to get to the CP? :ear)

I was interested to see how your "nav tower" would hold up for this year (there were some panic repairs/mods and removal going on in Guecirif last year on the return leg as I remember?)

Shame... I was really pulling for you on this one... heal up, saddle up... there are other rallies - like you say.

yeah think I was the only one who went into the last loop

new nav tower is straight off the Ktm 450 rally with a welded attachment to the frame.

Cant complain really first broken bone in over 30 years of racing ( I,m 41 by thw way)

Was going to try to get on the bike this morning but the doctor said he would pull me from the start line if I did

I got a phone call this morning at 4am from the USA's own Brent Teixeira. He was stuck on the side of the trail with a broken WR450 asking me how to get it going again. I guess yesterday he had major issues with the bike he rented and then today it stopped again with the same issues. Hopefully what i told him will help a little. Sounds like a Carb issue that the team were unable to correct overnight last night.
Hopefully he gets it sorted out as it is a long way to go to not finish over an issue that he had nothing to do with.....

The guy they have in first for the day did the 2nd special into merzouga in a supposed 35 mins for 90kms,compaired with the rest of us at around the hour mark, and | was doing 175kmh for some of it, if you followed the correct route is not possible

Yeah... his theoritic "average speed" of 154 km/h would seem pretty, how you say - "ambitious"...
