oh yeah...we need to hook up!
I was watching my oldest daughter and sweating myself a bit lighter, but I'm seriously intent on hitting up a few of these roads in the next 2 weekends: first few weekends in august is burned for me already on some MSF ridercoach training related events, but I'll be damned if I'm going to let the summer slip away without heading in this direction again. We did it last year, made a looonnggg loop out of it on the TW200s, and I'll do it again, too..
Would be glad to have some company, as I'm sure operose would, too. We tend to not have schedules that line up so well these days, but when they do it ends up being a blast.
Operose, Good god, that's like 3 hrs away.
I fall asleep just driving back from tug hill!
Nice operose. Looks like good times. I like the GPS tracking of your fun at the tailings area. Also, noted what looks like and old linear dumping of tailings, now covered in green, that goes across the lake.
Hahahaha those are not GPS tracks, I made that map at work this morning with google maps!!
This year all my trips have been without maps compasses or GPS except when jontow and I went through long pond with snowmobile trail maps ziptied to the handlebars.
A little research beforehand is cool but fun roads distract me and never end up following planned route 100%. More about exploring even in areas I think I "know" like this one :)
Well there you go.
Plenty more where this came from! This Sunday I'll be painting a roof in Star Lake (see what happens when I take a ride???) but if you want to see some of what the area has to offer in person let me know, would be glad to show folks around :)
Kiss your wife and kids and tell them you are taking off for the weekend and let's ride south on Saturday afternoon and find somewhere to camp for the night. Gotta be in Star Lake early on Sunday morning but you could run over to dad's or hit the mines or something and we could take some random long way back towards home when I've finished up. You know you want to :)
I've never ridden a KLR but by the sounds of it you guys will ride those big 'ol things in that kinda stuff? :) Let's do it then... Next Sunday (28th) work?
I'd like to think about some good spots before hand so here's some things to think about:
Same area-ish or want to see other places?
Pavement, Smooth Gravel, Rocks&Mud, mixture percentages? Preferences?
How long do you wanna be up here messing around?
Do you care about seeing cool things along the way or just want to bust out some miles on fun trails/roads?
I've been advised I have a wedding next Sunday. I will take a rai check though!
Anybody going to be out tomorrow?
Ayup. Don't know where tho...
Thinkin about running up north, maybe St Regis Falls area. No set destination, unless there is a tag your interested in chasing!
*edit* C.O.P. I'm gonna stick local...got things to do.
man I want this bike
Man I want you to buy that bike!
Is anyone riding this Saturday?
My wife & daughter are heading to the city and it looks like I might finally have an opportunity to get some seat time.
I work Saturdays until about 2pm but will probably be out again on Sunday.
This Saturday afternoon I went for an absolutely awesome off road ride, then setup camp for the night and Jontow met me around dusk. Sunday we went to help some family with stuff and then did some more awesome riding on the way back towards home. Absolutely beautiful weekend for riding but Saturday night it hit about 50F and we got a little chilly in the hammocks :)
I will see what I can do Tom. Would really like to get out and ride with ya. Its been a slow year for me too! I had a good time a few weeks ago following Chuck around some seasonals and a goat trail!
Operose that looks like a great time!
All my rides have been with the geezer brigade this year (I don't consider myself a member yet). Something a little more spirited would make for a welcome change. So let me know.
