    Hello rider,

Here are a few shots from my last ride, I hope you will appreciate :ilmostro

The story begin with a boat, the one we took to go from France to Morocco. It's a long ride, 36h... :huh

We ride KTM so we ride off-road :D But before getting on the tracks you have some roads to ride and some small place to cross.

Place where you can have a breakfast!

The road starts to be in bad conditions, tracks are getting closer and closer :clap

    Finally the track is there!

The weather is not so good sometimes...

And a few times it turns into a sand storm :huh

Here the storm was getting on us, it's really a wall of sand that is getting on you, amazing!

You can always stop in a small village and ask for your way, people are so helpful over there :bow

    Kids like our bikes :thumb

With the excitation of the first day you drive fast on the track, maybe too fast :shog

200km on road and 300km off-road it's long, the night is coming!

People will always offer you a bed for the night. In this case a guy gave us his flat under his restaurant... The guy had a monkey in his garden :D

In Morocco petrol is cheap compare to France! And you always find unleaded fuel.

The East part of Morocco is the best place in this country for off-road :clap

Sometimes in the middle of the dry desert you find some water, and where there is water there are palm trees!

The more you go to the south the more it look likes to a real Desert :freaky

The ground is getting more and more sandy...

There are not so much friends to meet in the desert...

More to come in a few minutes !

When the sand is hot and when you have your 46L tanks full it's a pain to turn :D

The tracks go straight as far as you can see :eek1

When the weather is about 48°C it's exhausting to ride in the sand...

The sand dunes starts to get highter and highter

We also met some strange vehicules in the sand dunes... :huh

Even if you keep falling you had to keep your smile to be a real adventure rider :D

After a 9h ride in the sand under the sun you're almost dead when you come out of water. If you're lucky a berber will find you and invit you for some rest in his tents :bow

Actually he was always looked like on this pic,

Having his hand on his mooth :huh

He only knows a few words of French and we don't know Arabic so it took maybe 30min for us to understand that he had a problem with one tooth :cry
In the desert there are no hospital, no doctor, no pain killer, no dentist, you're on your own. He asked us to bring him 10km away to his village where his family lives.

Once in his village (maybe 10 houses in the middle of nowhere) he invited us in his house for a mint tea :thumb He wife warmed up some water and served us the tea, very very good, hot but so refreshing!

Plenty of child/friends came to the house to see us

I gave my camera to some child, that was kind of a miracle for them. They watched the movie were we saw dolphins along the boat from France to Morocco they were amazed. They never (and will problaby never) saw the sea or fish...

After one or two hours in his house he asked us to bring him to a small town, maybe 15km from his house on the tracks. He was looking for somebody able to get his tooth out, in the middle age style...

In the small town we went with that berber we found a great place to have some rest after the sand dunes stage

It's really hot in August in Morocco so we were only... 2 in the hotel, all the staff for us :D

    You remember that pic ?

In the 4WD we passed there was two guys, an American and an Australian, going from India to Cape Town :huh
We met them at the hotel. The Australian guy was a doctor so he took a look at our knees. We felt so many times in the dunes that we twisted our knees. He told us to put some ice on it and to ride carefully on the next day.

From the hotel the view was amazing...

    Ah ! At last.
    Perfect so far, buddy.
But you should give place and time......to allow us to "follow" you and see that you __really__ ride a lot of kliks !

From your comment about the weight of the bike - caused by the new gas tank - do I have to understand that your bike was more difficult to handle ?
I won't be surprised as weight is always the enemy.

By the way, how it feels to ride in Morocco with a real handlebar ? :D

    Salut Aurel,

waaay coooool! Cool ride, cool pics and getting in touch with people the way I like it, too. You've been fighting hard with those beasts. Know what you're talking about. I had the 950 with the big tanks in Tunesia this year. Pheeew ....

What a pitty that I couldn't come with you. I therefor tried my best over here:

The report will take a while :-(

Any more rides this year? I'll be heading south to Greece next week following the Adriatic Sea (Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegroa and Albania).

Greet your fellows in Toulouse. I'm not forgetting about our Stella meeting.

    Cheers Dirk
