Motorcycle touring in foreign countries is now the 'big thing' in my life. Glad to see other Americans celebrating international visitors to USA.

This sounds completely awesome. I'm an American, but have ridden motorcycle in Cameroon, Mexico, and Australia. Will do my best to attend

Tynda's Rally is a small, but very nice rally in the HUGE backyard of Eric and Gail. They do not have this rally to make money (NO FEES), but just to meet and hang out with fellow motorcycle travelers.
Eric and Gail were the first to cross Russia from east to west on a motorcycle (see Guinness Book). Yes, two up on the road of bones!. Now they are retired and have 5 motorcycle in different parts of the world to take trips there. They are a fun couple and have great stories to tell of their travels.

There won't be vendors or food stands at the rally. Except for the potluck no food or drinks are provided, but the nearby town of Oakridge, OR has a small grocery store with plenty of food and beer.:freaky

It is not clear yet who will do presentations, I might do a presentation on my trip to Iceland.

    Hope to see you there!

"the HUGE backyard of Eric and Gail."

Hee hee hee. "backyard." It's an ESTATE. It's *massive*. Could easily hold 100 motorcycles and campers if they packed people in like European rallies - with just 30 - 40, there's still soooooooooo much space!

If you have traveled by motorcycle in another country, and would like to do a presentation - focused more on how to do it and what to see than "here's me here, here's me there...", contact Eric.

International motorcycle travelers are *always* welcomed at their "estate", year round - if you ever know of someone from another country passing through Oregon, get them in touch with Gail and Eric.

Packing my bags and getting ready as I type:D! I was told about this rally by a friend travelling in India, so it's definitely getting an international reputation.

Flying to Phoenix next week and then heading up to Oregon via Chicago, Flagstaff, Utah, LA and Idaho which I think is quite a lot of miles.

Looking forward to meeting Gail and Eric after hearing so much about them.

    See you all there.

I've only been to one, but it was wonderful. If I can make it up this year, I will. Although I might be headed east on my bike trying to figure out how to get it to Portugal.

Really excited in planning to ride to this gathering! The Oregon area ought to be beautiful in late June.

As mentioned in the initial post, "WHY: To honor foreign travelers and the concept of traveling outside of North America," has added a lot to my life. Appreciating things here, elsewhere, and making friends from afar.

    Happy trails

Seeing as I live nearby, I will try my best to make it. Long time burner and motorcyclist, this sounds great!

Glad to see a few of you will be making it (can't wait to meet you, Tiffany!). We may come down a day early. I'll be making my usual chicken-in-fake-cheese-sauce-over-noodles for the potluck.

I believe that, right now, Eric and Gail are in Europe: they started in Greece and are going to Ukraine, but we know nothing about via what routes.

I'm looking forward to this one again. We need to figure out what to do about the Pancake situation???? The cans just don't work for me. lol

In July I'm heading north to see my Cousin in Sedro Wooly Washington then maybe head north to Canada and if time permits I'll go through Banff. If not I'll ferry over to Sidney BC and Victoria then take the coast south.

That's why I put in for Vacation at least 6 to 9 months in advance. I let them plan around my Vacation.

I hope Jayne can still make it.

This sounds like a good excuse to burn some fuel and kill some bugs... Anyone from the Central Oregon area heading over to Westfir for this event?

I might be living in Estacada when this happens. Still waiting to get my alternator fixed on my Ducati narrowcase before that happens.

Just a reminder.... there have been some changes. If you are going you need to register with Eric and if you are doing the catered lunch on Saturday you need to send Eric $16 by June 20th. You can send a check made out to "Hole in the Wall" which is a BBQ place. Below is a couple emails from Eric.

#1. If you are coming West on HY 58 please note that the tunnel on HY58
will be closed Monday to Friday 8 pm to 6 am. So arrive early. We like
riders to come days early so we can have more time to talk.

#2. If you are coming up 1-5, especially from California you might find
it best to get off the freeway at Cresswell. At that point is a RAYs which
is much better than that in Oakridge. Then you can continue east on Cloverdale
as it connects with HY 58 and lets one stay off the freeway.

#3. Some of you asked what you can bring as food? If your mother or spouse
will not fix your favorite food to bring, then buy something at the Creswell RAYs
or since Gail is making chili then bring something for that dish. Many people like
    hotdogs and buns.

Ten of you who have said you were coming have not returned the registration form.
You can show up anyway but we cant feed you at the catered lunch unless we
give notice to the BBQ restaurant.

    TYNDA in sunny Oregon

Make the check out to HOLE IN THE WALL
and mail ASAP to Eric Haws, 47008 La Duke, Westfir,
Or. 97492 which we must have before 20th of June.
Lunch will consist of two meats and four side dishes.
In the past they over fed us and so Gail and Eric split one order.

We're super gutted about missing it. We've planned since last year to be there this year. It would take a miracle for us to be there for even a few minutes on Sunday. Sniff.

We're going to go down on our own in July - Eric and Gail welcome motorcycle travelers any time. So we'll have our own, tiny celebration. We'll burn a twig and eat a can of ravioli....
