Just when there wasn't enough flag waving already...:huh
Shouldnt this be in the pics section?
Maybe you could make a post showing the German flag? Or is it that we like ours that you find distasteful?
Oh boy, I can see this headed to C, S&M shortly. (I'm with you Jim)
Sorry for the old and faded photo taken with a kodak instamatic, Fire Base Rita RVN 1968
I'm still loving it Mr. Cob!
Me, too. God bless and thanks for your service.
Awesome pic Mr. Cob.
No Jim, I dont find it that "distasteful", its just that its not a shiny thing.
While a nice flag to look at, to say its shiny is infering you had a choice where to be born and that you should be proud of it. To be proud of something you had no say in, and no choice about is kind of rediculous.
What if someone made the choice to immigrate? What if someone had the choice to leave and didn't? I agree with you on the matter of gender/race/shoe-size/whatever, but you certainly can chose the country you live in and whether you choose to be proud of its standard.
The only thing distasteful in this thread is you and your ridiculous comments.
You've been in Germany too long - maybe the "exceptional" socialism there is rotting your brain.
What, do you think this country (U.S.A, hence "the flag") just built its damned self?!:huh That's right, high-speed, many of us and our ancestors built this country, and we believe in its goodness (both in-country and internationally). Many of us have family who have died or been injured serving this flag (in many aspects). . . or we ourselves have been injured in service.
People are "just born" into communism. . . .
If you want to be an asshat (which is obvious), so be it. But you could be brave, and move on to a thread that fits your interest. . . or better yet, create your own thread.
Keep up the good pictures, friends!
(This probably should be under "pics").
I respectuflly disagree with you. This is not a debate about which country is best, nor am I saying the one im from is any better.
My comments are meant only as disaproval that a country is a "shiny thing". Any country.
The fact that your first response is to attack what I say, speaks volumes about your personality.
The OP started this post about our nations flag. Our flag is noted in our national anthem as "The Star Spangled Banner".
Stars are shiney. Just sayin'
This thread was started in the "Pics" thread. For some unknown reason the mods moved it here.
Interesting perspective. As you might have noticed, my wife is from Portugal. She lives in the US by choice, but loves her home country too. Doesn't really matter to this thread. This thread is about American flags, and photos of it. Not a political statement.
Weak pix but the tag is R,W.&B.
And I carry this one with me all the time!
Maybe this will help our German friend feel better:
Hard to see, but there is an American flag there, along with many other countries. Taken in Germany at the confluence of the Rhine and Mozel Rivers called Koblenz-Deutches-Eck in 2003.
