Locul, write the hill climper dude and ask for the drawings of the custom brackets on each side of the engine. Then we find some local who will carve them in wood or even better...alu.

There has been mention that the oil tank will be an obstacle to installing this engine in the Adventure. Looks to me like it just takes up the space where the battery resides on the LC8. Just find a new spot for the battery and you're golden.
Question: Do you expect the stock Adventure radiator to be sufficient? What are your plans as far as cooling?
Battery is already under the seat.
I´ve been looking only slightly into this problem which cooler to choose.
RC8R runs 2.6l
LC8 runs 2.1l
THe extra 0.5l have their rights i think.
Will have to try an RC8Rs standardcooler. Though it would be difficult, regarding full suspension use(which i plan for).
The garage i work in, is getting a new floor and the cement need to cure. In 10 days there should be a go on this. Tearing down the Old and try to measure something useful.
If the oil tank doesnt fit, i'd remove it and fab one to fit under the seat, similar to powercells.
Standard radiator could be used, instead use a second cooling fan, and oil cooler (if it doesnt already have one)
Interested to know the weight of it..
The RC8 has a water-cooled oil cooler.
The RC8 oil tank will not be removed. It's casted as a part of the engine and there are no external hoses or tubes to lead oil from the tank to the engine.
W can't wait to get the bike up on the lift and strip it down...we will know so much after that!
Like Søren said. We can´t move the oiltank as its a prat of the engine.
Actually i´ve thought about using the standard radiator with twinfans.
Weight, well my estimate would be a standard 950 adv(220kg empty + 10kg). I will try keep weight down using some of pete640 carbon stuff, bashi etc). Shorai battery http://www.shoraipower.com/p-155-lfx18a1-bs12.aspx.
BuTT at the end of the day, it will still be a graveltourer. If someone have any ideas, regarding weightsavings, buildwise...blabla...please join the thread.
I have some questions regarding cooling?
It could shorten up my headache if i could keep my standard cooler/radiator. BUT(T) the RC8R cooler has two(2) outlets, one(1) for each cylinder. Would/could anyone make a qualified guess if i just could make an Y-piece from the standard radiator?
Reason is that i don´t need to think about clearence with fully compressed forks.
ps: it will be doublefanned.

I cant see why you couldn't split off in the front cylinder with an adaptor (T or Y) and continue to the back cylinder and do same for the returns?
Not sure how the RC8 factory routing is but it'll be a tight squeeze on the ADV with the tanks.

just looking at the RC8 cooling schematic and it seems to be just one return coming off the lower thermostat.
The one thing that troubles me a bit is that there's one cold and one hot thermostat maybe its there to keep the engine at same temps through intake/return, or fine tune temps between top and bottom?

And there is the answer to this problem. You could use a "Y barbed reducer" (Two small pipes into 1 larger pipe)

I´ll try go with the stock cooler. I really hope it goes. Less hassle and closer to riding.

I would to, It's good know for those who follow. I can see my self doing this one day.
I have been experimenting with aerodynamics on our cooling system with good results. I test my findings commuting in Sydney traffic as it is summer down here in the Antipodes. I use lack of fan switch on as a guide.
My ideas were to remove the clutter from the back to allow air to freely exit the radiator unhindered. The fan was moved to the front. Next was to capture air from as wide as possible a direct it into the radiator with home made carbon fiber shrouds. One side was finished 3 months ago and I have been very happy with the results so far. I don't have a photo of the shroud yet.
The results so far are a major improvement during low speed running, and that is with only one shroud.

I will, ofcourse, as soon as possible begin the progress. Only one problem. Soren, the "other" guy writing in this thread, is the guy i´m renting workshoparea at. We are renewing the floor with concrete/paint and organizing stuff a bit better. We have made the first half of the floor, just waiting to cure. The 26-27th we should be able to make the other half. In the new year we should be able to haul some ass with the project. Actually Soren is a bit busy. He has got an XC4 engine which threw up...

A little progress.
Talked to a friend regarding the blasting and powdercoating the subframe, swingarm and frame. I will be beefing the swingarm with some added material(plan will come). Just to make sure that i wont suffer the early swinarm illness...
Tomorrow even more teardown.
