You gus talking SD or SDR? There is quite a difference.
rub it in.
Fawk that, not me
I did just get to take mine or a short ride (25 miles)
First ride of the year
Damn I missed riding
I'm looking forward to my first SD ride of the year. Need to get my new set of Pilot Power 2CTs spooned on first. Roads are still a little sketchy. I made a weak ass attempt to sell mine a couple months back but I was unsuccessful which was probably a good thing.
A former SD/SDR owner recommended that I check the clutch spring retainer bolts. He experienced them backing out. Anyone else come across that?
There is a TSB out on the clutch bolts for certain year models. My 950 ADV ha dit doe by the dealer.
Wow,I stay off the internet for a day, And this thread goes viral
I find both my Adventurer and SD990 comfy
I'm going w/ the street fighter look.
Handguards and auxiliary LED lights.
Where did ya get those lights and shiny orange clamps?
Thinking about hand guards too, got some broken fingers and my hands get cold easy.
Clamps: CJDesigns LLC
I traded my Superduke for an FJR so the fiancee' could ride with me.
I sure loved the Superduke but I've already got an SV650 trackbike and I didn't want to sell the V Strom either.
Anyway, I kept a few parts so I thought I'd see if anyone in interested, link to Fleamarket ad.
Man, I'm gonna miss that monster motor.
Started doing my valve adjustment, but cant get the rear cylinder spark plug cover off. When I try to pull it out it wont clear the rear frame.
On my Super Enduro there is plenty of room.
IIRC mine cleared but remove the valve cover bolts and remove cover coil together. if you're installing the spark plug do it before replacing the valve cover.
Found the answer:
The SD and SDR have different coil caps, so it's easy on the SD, but on the SDR you have to remover the shock mount bolt! :huh
Part 2 of the saga:
The same 16mm spark plug wrench that works on the Super Enduro does not fit the SDR.
Never mind. Strangely the SDR uses a 14mm plug and not a 16mm plug like the SE. Go figure.
Just to help others....
The 08 SDR has a different spark plug size/type to previous models
It's an NGK LKAR8AI-9 or KTM Part No. 75039093000
It needs a 14mm box spanner, not the 16mm on previous models
The electrode gap is 0.9mm indicated by the -9 on the NGK code
Got a few miles of twisties in yesterday:
I love my SD!!!
Nice, did you notice any difference between the stock windscreen and the 'touring' screen?
I never had the stock. I purchased mine with 5K on it and the touring screen was already there. I only notice wind issues at 80+ and it's not too bad. I'm coming off of a F800ST so the wind is noticeable but doesn't prevent me from having the largest grin inside my helmet.
Love my SD as well!!!
As I was picking it up...
And after removing all the stupid stickers.. not sure why I'm not smiling like an idiot
And here doing the TuneECU setup. Currently the bike is only flashed to a modified version of the Akrapovic map (set to 100% secondaries and to run the 2nd map at anything over idle). Fueling I may mess with later. It's certainly a lot nicer than a PC3 setup and a LOT cheaper!!! (I paid $60 for the cable as I'm lazy, software is free).
