I've never been to a rally before- Until recently becoming involved with the local BMW club I always viewed riding as a solo affair. I still ride alone most of the time, but I do enjoy riding with others and talking motorcycles occasionally, so I thought I'd give a rally a shot to see what they're all about. Any ADVRiders planning on attending? It would be nice to put some faces with the names if you are. Also, any general tips for someone who has never attended one of these things before? Thanks.

I just went through Starke this weekend - if you go, be careful of your speed. Starke and Waldo are really tough on the speed limits there.

I don't have any experience with that rally....

I have attended this rally several times and it is very nice. It can be VERY cold however. Camping is lakeside with several large bonfires going. The "mess hall" is about 1/4 mile away from camp area. Usually have a few vendors, excellent food, several suggested rides plus a GS ride! Good attendence as well.
I no longer live in Florida but I'm still considering going.

My wife, kid and I will be there. I've been the past 6 years or so and it's always fun. Bring all your warm clothes and be prepared to buy more, as the wind off the lake is bone chilling!

We need to get a list going of all of the ADVer's that are going to be there so we can sort of co-ordinate where we camp. I am not sure how to do this, but I think it should be a fun Rally. I will be arriving probably around 11-12 on Friday if any others are planning on coordinating their camping location.

BC, it'll be seven not counting Mobeer's fam. I have a fellow ADV buddy joining us. Maybe we can hook up on Friday before the meet on our way over there. We are coming from Tampa....you'd be on our way.

    I'll bring the cigars! :thumb

    Mike,

That sounds like a good plan. When it gets a little closer to the rally, I'll PM ya and work out the details of where to meet.

I will have a late start, my buddy can't "pull chocks" until early sat morning (work schedule, stuff to do, boss, ect). We will see you up there in Starke.

Hey G-Bike, hope you made it back to Ga warm and dry, me and my budd Jonny went to Granny's for breaky on sunday before riding out. Nice riding weekend, met some real cool characters on that GS ride (Harley, Casey and Compton on his 1960 R vintage Beemer, to name a few) not too much dust on the trails and dirt roads. That BMWNEF puts on a good rally. Didn't get to meet R11Stew though, maybe next time.

Traffic sucked as usual from Palm Beach County down.
Today I met up with Brennan and we slapped my stock BMW shocks on his GS as his Ohlins need a rebuild (blew them up in South America somewhere). We went for a ride too..:clap
I told Bryan about the posting thingy and he should chime in soon too.:evil
    Cool piccies!!
