Every Summer my wife and I take a motorcycle trip somewhere. There are two direct flights a week to Milan from Roatan so Italy seemed like the natural choice. We had never been on a guided tour before so we decided to book a bike and a couple of tours with the Munchner Freiheit group in Munich.

The first tour starts in Munich then through Austria, Switzerland, Upper Lakes of Italy then returns to Munich.

For the first tour we were given a new GSA 1200.

After a short breifing we were on our way to Austria.

My wife is on back taking pictures and sightseeing, me I am here for the twisties.

The second day of the trip starts in Switzerland and one of my favorite things dirt roads.

Then back onto the pavement as we continue to climb up into the Alps

The roads are narrow , the air is crisp and cool and you do not want to miss any turns up here.

There is still a little snow lingering even though it is the middle of June.

A few turns to slide through here.

    more to come.

Northern Italy the scenic roads just seem to go on forever.

When you look down and see the hairpins stacked up like this you wish the day would never end.

Then you get to stop at these fabulous roadside cafes that seem to cater to bikers. There must be some law in Italy that all food must be good. We were there for almost a month , ate every meal out and never had a meal that was less than fantastic. The views were not bad either.

Dinner will be seved on the veranda. We stayed in an old mansion that had been converted to a motel. They even had a special courtyard to park the bikes in at night. The name was Hotel Villa Cipressi a fabulous place to stay on Lake Como

The view from my window at the Hotel Villa Ciprissi. THe town you see across the water is Bellagio. The car ferry runs from Varenna to Bellagio to Menaggio great places to ride surround the entire Lake Como area.

Heading back into the mountains, many of the roads we explored were not marked but our guide seemed to have a knack for finding these great roads with almost no traffic on them.

At the top of one of the mountain passes we stopped for a rest and saw a guy on a DR800 SM version. I am sure there was a big smile on his face as these roads and a supermotard bike go hand in hand.

Another great thing about riding in Italy is the cars use the pullouts to let the moto's go by.

I could do this all day long.

CR450F's are street legal in Italy:clap :clap I am so moving to Italy when I retire.

There is a special place in heaven for the men who built these roads.

We passed these SM guys comming down the mountain, I don't think they were to happy being passed by a big GS two up.

A couple of adventure riders , saw lots of PD's on the roads.

    Still more to come.

Sorry to take this off topic but within Europe almost all 'enduro' bikes are street legal and those that aint are relatively easy to make street legal if new.

Oh man.....will be on some of those same roads starting on September 15..........cannot wait....nothing like them anywhere in the states......nice ratio between cages and MCs, semis that stay in the right lanes on autobahns/autostrada, cars that respect mcs and people wearing all of the right gear....it is heaven for MCs.:clap :clap :clap
