Have you guys seen this? Ural mentioned it yesterday and I have decided that it will, without a doubt, be my next bike. Even without pics of the thing, I'm that sure it will be awesome! I blogged about it today if you care to read about my excitement!:rofl

I guess there is nothing there that you couldn't do yourself, but that isn't really the point. They will get there, just takes time. It's not like they have BMW's R&D budget!

Am seeing a lot of major improvements in all Urals over the last 5 years.

Neat factor is that the average guy can keep things running w/ their very complete tool kit.

Thank goodness Ural doesn't have BMW's R&D budget. Ural needs to just keep making quality improvements.

KISS, we got enough ugly over tech-ed bikes on the market now.

Urals limited editions traditionally are a years end model, not a new year model. The new stuff comes out later.

    .
They're just having fun with the theme of naming it after an icebreaker. Considering how hard other motorcycle manufacturers push image and lifestyle, I think its refreshing that Ural isn't taking it too seriously.

I'd have to see it, but it doesn't sound like anything to get THAT excited over. So it's a regular Gear Up with a different paint job, some liner sprayed under the fenders, and some bolt on accessories - no big deal :scratch

My excitement stems from a motorcycle manufacture including all the things on the bike that one would put on there anyway. Heated grips may possibly be the only addition, but I will run heated gloves so the point is moot.

What else would you guys add to the list of stuff on there? Am I missing something obvious?

Wow man, you excite incredibly easy. So you're excited because a manufacturer is including things on the bike (i.e. Ural made bolt on parts) that a customer would potentially put on there anyway?? Would you be equally excited if they released a purple tourist without the passenger windscreen? :rofl

So I'm easily amused! I just think it's cool that they are doing the farkling exactly the way I would anyway. Makes my life easier, and I don't need to find someone to add the shark graphic to the sidecar!

I've never rode a Ural, but would they even have enough power to push another gear?

All things in time. It's not like they are selling 20,000 bikes a year and could justify a million in R&D to add more power, fuel injection, 6 speeds with reverse, 3 wheel drive, low range, a heated sidecar, and still keep it under $15k. :evil

I have. No they don't have power for a higher gear, but it's a pretty big jump from 2nd to third, and another to 4th. 1&2 are close enough, but 3 more close ratio gears above that would be a huge improvement over the 2 wide ratio ones they have now. That's the biggest single upgrade they could make, even before more power, or disc brakes all around...IMO

I know exactly what is going to happen! I'll buy a new URAL and then, a year later, URAL will introduce triple disc brakes. Someone mentioned that they have a new CNC machine at the Russian factory. It's just a matter of time. My timeframe is a late 2013 or early 2014 purchase. Disc brakes would be the huge upgrade that I would love to see. Been waiting a long time.

The oar and teeth graphics are in reference to the Yamal icebreaker, I understand that. But how is that oar useful on the URAL rig? It's just strange. I'd still need to buy a shovel and bracket.

They have an old CNC machine at the factory that is being upgraded to G-code by the Ural dealer from Halifax, Canada. Probably speed up crankcase production a wee bit.
