    I'm using a G-Max 3/4 helmet.
The goggles are military SWDG (Sun, Wind & Dust Goggles). I picked up a couple pairs for 10$ each from the Sportsmans Guide.

They fit nicely over my glasses, and don't fog up at all. An easily replaceable clear lens works well for night riding.

You sir, win the prize for the best captioned photo. I think I may print that out and put it on my fridge. Brilliant! :clap

Also, well said regarding the maintenance and care a Ural needs to survive. "Know Thyself" is an important mantra, and if you don't get some enjoyment fiddling with things, all the Ural ride reports in the world won't make you a happy Ural owner. :)

I also love pie, and this one is almost too nice to cut. That crust is awesome looking.
(It's all about the crust for me, the filling is way down the list of what's important.)

    Brilliant report.
Tell tale pictures and pie to top it off. :tb
Each state should have its Pie Town. :dg

Just a question regarding the exhaust.
In hindsight was it necessary to reroute the pipe?

A fellow pie lover! We are rare, my friend. I don't often meet true enthusiasts. Sure, some people enjoy pie, but there doesn't seem to be a large contingent of people that seek it out.

The crust on the strawberry-rhubarb pie that Kait is holding, was one of the best I'd ever tasted. There are benefits to shacking up with a Canadian baker. :evil

Thanks! I do agree that every state should have some sort of pie town. However, the real pie town in New Mexico is a bit like an Oasis.

Compared to Cuba, Grants, Chama and the other towns you pass through in NM, Pie Town really seems to have the best people, and the best pies.

The change of the exhaust pipe was absolutely needed for some of the more heavily eroded sections. While not needed for most of the good gravel and dirt sections, some of the rougher sections of trails would have beaten the stock exhaust cans into a mangled mess.

thanks for a great report. As we only get 1 wheel drive in Australia I would like to know how often you used 2 wheel drive. I can only remembered it mentioned twice. Do you think an electric winch and 1 wheel drive would have got you through these places? Thanks again John

I ran this in my signature on Zombie Squad. Just need someone good with photoshop to change Zombie Squad to ADV and the word "fight" to "ride".

Dude call one of those reality show cable channels. Seriously, I dunno what you do for a day job but a guy riding the country on a Ural with his dog in a sidecar would be a total hit!

    Great story, thanks.

VikB, that pie army graphic is priceless. We may have to start our own pie specific touring section. Forget Alaska, link together rides with pie shops and dirt roads.

Maybe we can call ourselves 'The 3.12 percenters'.
