Hi - my name is Greg, I am Polish, I combine my passions for motorcycles and traveling by doing a solo RTW trip in parts. This is my first post on Advrider, so I have a bit of a stage fright, I guess... I am not even sure, if I am doing it right...

    My travels so far:

2015 - Balkans - Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland (on 2014 BMW R1200 GS LC).

2016 - Nordkapp - Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Norway, Danmark, Germany, Poland (on 2014 BMW R1200 GS).

2017 - Siberia/Mongolia/Pamir - Ukraine, Russia, Mongolia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Poland (on 2007 BMW G 650 XChallenge).

Tomorrow, I am beginning my solo Transamerica trip. I collect my bike from Valpariso, then go South to Ushuaia, and all the way North to Quebec. My route goes through Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, United States, Canada, Germany, Poland .

The bike I am using is a 2007 BMW G650 XChallenge with most mods that Walter Colebatch proposed (Thanks, Walter!) The main difference is that I bought the bike with the TT auxiliary tank, so I kept it as it was and added a matching front fairing. XCh front.jpg XCh back.jpg

TA Route.jpg My transamerica motorcycle trip begins tomorrow. I am excited, a bit scared, not quite sure what to expect.

I read the travel recommendations of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs and they can be summarized with simple: „Don’t go, you idiot!” The risks they highlight vary from petite crime, through street robbery and kidnappings, to cartel shootings and terrorists attacks, but it can’t be that bad, can it? After all, millions of people live there, have kids, go to school or work, just live their lives... Still, I must admit I have certain level of anxiety, which will not be resolved until I hit the road.

My bike is already waiting for me in Valparaiso, Chile. After the 24000km Siberia/Mongolia/Central Asia trip, which exploited the bike significantly, I did the most proper and professional overhaul I could. I changed my front wheel (to Excel rim), got a new battery, a new regulator, rewired the alternator, replaced all relays, had everything inspected, including the suspension servicing and tune up. I hope to have fewer road emergencies this time round, but the time will show.

Tomorrow, I am leaving for Santiago, from there - after a couple of days of jetlag recovery/sightseeing - I need to get to Valparaiso to collect my bike. From that moment on the ride begins: first to the most southern part of the continent, Ushuaia, then all the way up north to Quebec, that is if I am fortunate to have enough stamina, health, bike and money to go on.

I plan to be doing regular updates with photos from the places I go to, internet access permiting.

When people ask what to wish me, I always tell them the most important thing is to have the luck to meet good people along the way. I have learnt that with kind people around, you can overcome all obstacles.

    Bike shipment.jpg
I shipped the bike to Chile using Advfactory, Sambor. Nice and easy.

    Electric training.jpg
I also took a training on diagnosing and fixing electrical issues of the bike. Regrettably, I could not get hold of electricity schematics for my bike, so I hope I won't have to do too many repairs...

From here, it looks like you are doing it very right. If you pass through central Massachusetts and feel a little homesick I can offer you some tentspace with a view and a home-cooked Polish dinner. Sto lat!

Guys, thank you all for your interest, wishes and words of encouragement. That means a lot to me! I am about to leave for the airport now. I have 4 connecting flights in total, so if everything goes well, should be in Santiago tomorrow early afternoon. Will check in with you within the next couple of days. Take care!
