One of the highlights of travel, at least for this rider, is the local diner scene....

Local legends; Longstanding enterprises; Places you plan to eat. The waitress calls you "hun". Places without planned "flair" :nah

Took the boys fishing today in South Cache Valley (truck, canoe, no fish), and was listing all the great food establishments in such a small place....

    To Wit:

Would like to start a list of local food eateries at which you are proud to have eaten, and call one of "your places".....:ear

    To Start:

Logan: -Logan's Heros. Excellent sandwich, Ahmed is a great guy.
    - The Factory Pizza, downstairs, peanut shells on the floor
    -Angies diner, biscuts and gravy

Salt Lake: -Pats BBQ. Wow. :nod 21st S /West temple.
    -Red Iguana, mexican, Mole!
-Morellia's Mexican on state by Fashion Place

Morgan-ish: Taggart's (up I-84 one exit, in of course, Taggart)

Salina: -Mom's Cafe (the Original) Not the greatest food, but good people)

    Moab: -Moab Diner

Edit: intent is to find similar locals, please add "your" places

Moab Diner is great. So is the tiny burger & shake joint on the east side of town, on the way up to Sand Flats . . . anyone remember its name?

I've only had breakfast there and it is excellent. I like properly done basic eggs over easy, bacon, hash browns, toast and OJ and it was just what I was looking for. Very nice people working there, I agree. It is a throw-back, in a good way!

Just a mom and pop run joint. Not a franchise like the site name says.

Merry Wives Cafe in Hildale, UT. By far, the best omelette in the state.

    Sugarhouse BBQ in SLC.

    El Chubasco in Park City.

    Hanna's Kitchen qualifies as a dive.......with a great location...but I wouldn't recommend it for quality food.......

    :nono

There is good food over past Kamas in Oakley at the Rhode Island Diner.......but it's not on the ride to Hanna.:rolleyes

Wing Coop in SLC (4100 S and Redwood) if you're into hot wings.

There's a place in Sandy called The Philadelphian, great philly cheese steak and fried mushrooms. Multiple food safety violations but I've eaten there quite a few times and never got sick.

    Very serious...
I can't remember what all I ordered on my first omelette there, but I did order peppers. Usually that means green peppers. In addition to green peppers, there were also yellow, red, and orange.
Breakfast bill came to $11 for two of us and it was more food than we could eat.

The only confusion came when I ordered my omelette and the young waitress asked how I would like to have my eggs cooked. I was speechless. I told her I'd take them however they usually make the eggs for an omelette.

From what i understand, the restaurant is not owned/operated by the "wacko" FLDS polygamists, but by the "normal" ones that live down the road in Centennial Park, AZ. The cashier was pretty cute the last time I was in there.

I'd add the Burr Trail Grill in Boulder. Good hamburgers, great service.

Locally, the Stockton Miner's Cafe is pretty good if you're riding through on the 36. They had a shaky start but the last few times I was there it was excellent. Good fried chicken and omelettes.

As another note, stayed in Torrey last weekend at Austin's Chuckwagon Motel on a motorcycle trip through southern Utah. We had a cabin: two bedrooms, one bath, kitchen, living room, and a little grill out on the side. Clean, excellent service. Their general store is amazing. Seems like you could get just about anything. Micro brews, steaks, seasonings, deli sandwiches, mexican - crazy. Ate at the Cafe Diablo but wasn't really impressed. Will try it again and get the ribs next time. Liked the coffee/book store there. Just so happens that the annual Red Rock Women's music festival was going on. :huh
