How about 3:00 pm. We can trailer so no inspection is really needed.

managed to get a way from work a bit early and hit skyline; here's some pics:

finally found a road into the mountain valley that drops into morgan valley. it was called arthur fork spur. got pretty nasty fast as in clay with serious erosion. saw what may have been the largest fing sheep in the world. seriously i came around this corner and saw a 4 legged beast in the road w/ cankles and i said wtf to myself. first thought it was a bear, but too big to be a bear, then thought it was an elk. finally the beast stood up and looked at me with it's little sheep head. it was like a 650lb female sheep
    :eek2

it was a great way to start the weekend. the ride that is, i better not see any sheep jokes :)

oh, i also put some real pegs on my bike. wow what a difference as in the bike actually responds to my feet now.

yeah, the prices need to come down a lot. plus one has to be careful to be sure to get a brushless motor which from what I understand only brammo makes. the motors with brushes break down a lot.

eventually i want to commute on sunshine, but it will probably be 5-10yrs.

ooohh, that gasgas looks sweet. a 450 with a windscreen, perfect.

anybody know the price of the bike mentioned above?

I read on another thread that some people are guessing it is about 9k. I hope they are wrong, but if they are right it makes my 09 klr 650 that was 4.8k look like a great value. plus there's tons of extras to be found for the the klr, i kind of doubt there's many after market farkles for the gasgas, but i don't really know. great move by gasgas though a nice fing bike; perfect size, decent range. now the kick-start seems a bit funny. is it really a kick-start?

i better sign off or i'll go searching for the end of the internet again and be up through the AM.

Anyone wanna ride in the Uinters tomorrow? Probly bring my fishin pole ... even though the bigass dirtbike usually bogarts my time all day.

The next best thing to being clever is to quote someone who is. Mary Pettibone Poole (don't know who she is, but she's kinda clever I think).

I'm gonna just ramble about my ramble here for a minute. Wish you'da been there.

Great ride last w'end ... Saturday, wife and daughter drove the pickup to Elko for a family get-together, and I took the loooooong way to meet them there.

Left SLC just before noon, I-15 N to Malad. My new Pirelli knobbies sang so loud I actually thought there was a siren coming up behind me once for a second. Gas in Malad then West through Holbrook, the back roads and mountain roads to Rogerson to Malta (knarly washed out road!), Almo, had a burger and a beer (Steinlager!) at Oakley, then to the base of Badger Mountain for a late, and lets say austere, camp. 300 miles the first day.

Sunday morning to Magic Mountain then Rogerson, Threecreek then Jarbidge for a burger, a beer and a Labor Day parade!! Antique autos, fire engine, jeeps up and down the dirt main street several times. Way cool. Wish I coulda stayed for the Corn Feed at 4:00 ... Ribs, corn and great people! But no, blasted South past the junction to Deeth. I was looking for N Fk Humbolt, but missed the turn and popped out at hwy 225. I started back into the dirt roads looking for the sneaky N Fk road but I was in a little sliver of country for which I didn't have a map, so I got scared and back to the hwy and South. 560 miles.

Probly just as well cause it was coming up on dinnertime and the fam was waiting for me in Spring Cr. Mom was givin me the stink eye for riding alone I guess. Sisters thought I was f'ing crazy. The bro-fro-ano-mo and the cuz thought I must be tougher than a nail. Wife just sorta rolled her eyes up in her head.

I always wanted to explore that area. Dad's best freind, Bill Pogue and his partner gamewarden Conelly Elms were murdered in the Owyhee desert by Claud Dallas in the early 80s and I kept thinking about Dad and the other lawmen out there looking for Bill's body and for Dallas.

Friggin big country out there. You gotta get gas at every opportunity. One little get-lost and you could easily face a hundred unplanned miles. Big, wide and long.

Monday we played a half day at the horse races, loaded up the Adv and schlepped it home in the pickup.

    Huh?!! F*ckin A!

No matter where you go, there you are.

Trailtwister, thanks for the "ramble". One of my most memorable rides was in and around that area.

Has anyone ever been to the end of Arthur Fork Spur off of Skyline?

    Is it a dead end?

Saw 2 guys on dual sports riding some very narrow single track around Willard Peak and Ben Lomond this afternoon. That was some impressive riding!!
