    What's the go?

I understood that parts shipped to Australia , effectively exported out of EU ; are exempt from VAT.
If we are charged VAT do we apply for a refund?

July the 1st this will be implemented and all imports including anything under $1000 will be charged 10% GST.

But for now NO GST or VAT should be charged for Aust/NZ residents so yes apply for the refund, VAT is only charged if you live in Europe, apparently UK residents are now or will be charged VAT if purchasing from Euro countries, can't 100% say yes or no though.

I purchased parts for my OSSA from Italy.
Credit card took a bigger hit than I was expecting, found out it was the VAT.
they refunded it with no fuss, after I sent them an email.
My guess was that it is just automated in the website/system, without an opt out box.
most shops should be able to fix it though.

Shouldn't be charged it but not all sellers understand it. Couldnt get MX Positivo in Italy to understand that VAT doesn't apply to sales outside EU so just had to wear it as was still a good deal on unobtanium.

Yeah. Well I have re-contacted the supplier and spelled it out too them
Yeah the language was a barrier too . After quite a few emails I explained that Australia is not in the EU, the order was shipped to Australia, VAT does not apply to orders shipped outside the EU therefore VAT does not apply to orders shipped Australia. Can you credit me with the VAT charge.

    They say the will

    Gday Phil

I got some some less common MZ parts, generally cheap but shipping to Australia is pricey.
