I see "negativo" in the original Italian text, so I'd guess the test was negative.

Yes, I saw another translated article, the car driver was clean.
Every drivers nightmare- what's going to pop out from behind a hedge?

From the statements and info presented, looks like either Hayden rolled the stop sign, or stopped, but failed to see the car approaching and rode right into traffic. 50km speed one there, but I've driven A LOT in Italy and that car could've easily been doing 50+MPH

First, I'm heartbroken by this news.
Out of curiosity, as a cyclist, I just "drove" Nicky's route using google street view and the photo posted upthread. He was on a narrow country road outside the track, and entered a main road through a stop sign where he was hit. Not likely the car driver's fault. In the big picture, this doesn't matter, but just to put to rest any simmering anger.

Quick word of warning: apparently, some clickbait sites are reporting that Hayden is dead. As of Friday, that is bullshit. However, Hayden's fame means a lot of these stories will pop up. Ignore them, unless they are on reputable sites which write regularly about racing.

Not sure if the link will work but Dale Earnhardt Jr. has mentioned the NASCAR community is pulling for Nicky and that Dale Jr and others are running the 69 decal along the roof of their cars.

Please don't turn this into a NASCAR bashing comment.

Click-bait sites are not "the media".
They are half a step beyond "bots".

I was at Laguna in 2005 as well. Nick was fastest every session and won going away. Colin was pretty good that day too. It was fun watching Nick ride Earl on the victory lap. It was a good day to wave the Stars and Stripes.

I hope Earl Hayden and his family feel the prayers, support, love, and respect for Nicky Hayden those both in and outside of racing circles are sending.

We are approaching one of the biggest racing weekends in the USA and I am sure the passion this country has for Nicky will be at the forefront of any racing participant or fan.

    KEEP FIGHTIG NICKY HAYDEN.

Prayers with Nicky and his family, this is too close to home for me, I hope he is able to grow old and tell great racing stories. May you stay forever young my friend.
