I wanted to post a valve poll. The valve question is driving me nutz, and it was a short journey to begin with!

Sorry if I missed a valve but these are the one's I am most familiar with. I'm trying to get an idea of the installed base vs issues. Don't know if this will answer that question, but it's the sharpest tool I got...

I could post 10 options on the poll.

*** There is a mistake in the numbers on the poll. "Chipsdad" voted in every category and borked things up a little. Subtract "1" from any number you are interested in.

I installed a set of valves and seats from San Jose BMW that only lasted 20,000 miles. I do not know what brand they were.

Curious, how long ago was the Valve job done?

    What part didn't last?

Both, the seat was hammered and the valve keeper groves were very worn and the face of the valve.

I think the keeper thing is a common story, had not heard the seats being hammered though unless the keeper grovves being worn facilitates that.

Some of Ritchie Moore's are a bit tight in the collets which doesn't allow the valve to turn and keep the faces clean!

Actually the poll is not going to be accurate since most of us have several bikes yet can only make one selection. I have Moorespeeds in one engine, BMW in another and intervalve in a third. I've also had issues in the past but can't pick all the options.
