I think I might be up for this trip if I can scam time off work. I might invest in a KLR by that time I hope. An intersting excursion would be the Queen Charlotte Islands if you can afford the time.

If you come back via Prince Rupert you can catch a 2 night ferry to Port Hardy, ride Vancouver Island to Victoria then cross back to Anacortes WA via another ferry.

    Food for thought.

Phil Freeman of Anchorage runs motorcycle tours to Prudhoe Bay. On KLR650's. He also rents motorcycles, again KLR's here in Anchorage.
Mabe you could hook up with one of his summer tours and ride the Dalton.

This summer he has a tour to Prudhoe starting in Fairbanks and one called "Deadhorse Down" which starts in Deadhorse and ends in Fairbanks.

    Just a thought!

I went there Wednesday night, the first day there were open, on the Pegaso :D. Which makes me the first person to actually ride there on a 2 wheeler. They asked me to come back again Saturday in time for the ribbon cutting, and I do believe I will put in an appearance, where you may all worship my knobby studliness. :flug :evil

Didn't see any of you wimps there....damn cold ride, too. Short ride there and back. Nice place but they ran out of pizza right away, so I went home and warmed up some from last night.
I think the Pegaso needs a block heater. For some reason it doesn't want to start at 0F. And the brakes froze up. Maybe 0F is too cold for wimpy Italian bikes....

Cassiar is one sweet road to take, I loved it.

I would try to hit the June 21 Summer Solstice in Dawson City, best party I saw. If your going to carry a spare tire with you then why not ship it ahead. I made reservation for the River View Hotel in Whitehorse and Bridgette the Manager let me send tires ahead and she stored them in her basement. The other thing would be to figure where you plan to change ahead of time and just have the shop order them and they'll be there when you arrive.

Here is my favorite spots on Alaska trip.

Dawson City, Summer Solstice party, Dome rock midnight party
    Dempster
    Dalton
Cordova, Childs Glacier, Million dollar bridge
Talkeetna, K2 glacier flight around Mickinley, Fairview Pub, Stay at the roadhouse.
    Homer Spit, Salty Dawg
Whittier tunnel and ferry to Valdez
    Haines Highway
Skagway, Moes Frontier bar and the Red Onion afterhours

I wish I would have hike the Chilcoot trail and flown over to Katmai from Homer.

I was looking around for a freindly face or two while I was there, must have missed you. Did bump into a surprising number of people I knew. Those bikes are damn pretty but arfully expensive, eh? I one I like was around $10.5K. That would buy a lot of lumber around the KL5A Kompound....

KL5A and FM, you guys were there toooo early. I was there for two pizza deliveries :thumb Saw a few Gruvers and Northern Rider folks there. Only things that really interested me there were a tire guage and a airhead in the storage area.

Twas the night before Solstice when all through Dawson not a creature was squirming not even a Teacher on Summer break and a Coed on Vacation.

The traveler was hung all cozy in his chair, knowing that coeds they soon would be there.

When out on the walkway there rose such a clatter. I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter. When what to my wonder my eyes do appear, 2 coeds in front of me all suck facing there.

Now dasher, now dancer, now prancer and vixen. On comet on cupid on donder and blitzen. To the top of my lap they all do appear.

Curtis your ride report is great. Read it again today. Great pictures.

14,000 miles in 69 days is about right to do it right and see it all. Ive been in Alaska 34 years and havent visited all the places you saw in 3 months.

I hope all the people planning an Alaskan trip get a chance to read your report.

    Thanks for sharing ...... again.

    Greetings from "up over" :D

I also live in Vancouver and offer any help I can when you arrive. On your way out of vancouver, you can increase the fun factor drastically by following part of our "loadedpalooza" route. This will point you in the right direction to head north and should take any longer. Plus you can stop by the northern colony of Australia - Whistler, BC - for lunch :lol3

checks the links for the pics & reports from the last 2 yrs
