    Hi All,

It'd be interesting to put a face to names from the forums. Does anyone organize a group ride or meet-up for Vancouverites / GVRD folks sometime during the peak riding season? (Please don't tell me Squamish's southern Starbucks. I see that 2x per week going to see my kids, and not on the bike...)

Because I'm a newbie, I think a ride to somewhere like Harrison along 7 would be pretty nice, and collect most of the GVRD and Valley. I don't know. Thoughts?

I think one meet up would be doable, sometime in June or July?

Sounds like a great idea. I'm in.

There was a gathering of sorts a couple years ago, more of a tech session/beer drinking bbq gathering in New Westminster. Very nice, and a great bunch. Don't know what happened to that?

    Well, that's Steve and I...

If we were crows, that would be an attempted murder. Anyone else? :)

Most excellent! I'm sure we can arrange something. That said... bear in mind I'm a no0b.

As in... I go for my road test in 3 hours. Nervous as f---. Wish me luck.

The test is easy don't sweat it ! Watch out for school zone and park speed limits, they like to go through them. I will be riding out from Ontario this summer to go to the KTM Rally I may see you guys around!

    Good Luck!
I failed my first attempt. They took me down a single lane road that widened and wasn't quite two lanes. A car pulled in beside me, and I failed. Didn't assert lane dominance.
Went back a month later, on my own bike at the time, H-D Heritage Softail, and did fine.
Count me in if there's going to be something.
I'm in North Van. Can do most maintenance but changing tires is my nemesis... will practice on my CT-110... it's a step up from a bicycle.

Thank you @Bad Daddy! I did, in fact, PASS the test today. Fully licenced.

Well done! I'm sure the test must be way different than the one I took in 1976 I passed first time on my 76 400-4 SS, my buddy failed twice on his 78 xs400 special Yami, in the cones, I told him to take my bike and he passed no worries. .

Or like me, I didn't have enough money on me to pay after I did my upgrade test (because I took my 1st test on my buddies XL185) so I booted it up Willingdon to go to the bank on one wheel for a bit on my Honda 900SS and passed the guy that gave me my test while he was testing a girl in her car! I came back to pay and he says,
"Did you loose you baseball glove?" I gave him a blank stare. He said, "When you blew the doors off me going up Willingdon I thought your glove that is bungied down was going to fly off your seat!" I was like oh no! He was cool and said something like that I owed him a pint if I saw him at the pub! oops!

    Cones? You had cones?

Back in the day I got asked to show how the turn signals worked and how to put the bike into neutral in the parking lot. Then was given instructions to ride around the block.

The evaluator stayed in the parking lot and just listened. If you made it back alive with no stalls, screeching sounds, or collisions, you passed.

I think we chatted before - my kids live in Squamish, so I'm up often. Not on the bike, yet, but I'm up often.

I'm also a member of the Vancouver Motorcycle group on FB. They do weekly rides... to Squamish. I drive that road all the time, and I love it, but honestly... so much to explore.

Hmm, mine was quite different. All within the confines of downtown Langley's brand new Driver training govt. building, the had an 'obstacle course' of quick stop/starts places, etc. The pylons were pretty tricky actually, 1 1/2 the length of your bike, 40 yards long. The best part during that time, the learners permit was this funny little green book, which did not have an expiry time, I waited almost a year before i did the final test. Rode the bike to BCIT for 1/2 a year during the winter, to the Okanagan and the Duffy Lake circle, all before full class 5. We were a frightening terror on wheels.

I'm in, would like to meet more local riders. I joined a group ride last year we did the West Harrison FSR from the Sasquatch Inn to Pemberton.

I'm in Mission, ride the local dirt every chance I get. Would definitely join the hootenanny if Harrison or Stave are on the menu. Not a newb but no mx racer either, up for a chill leisurely ride
