Yep, should work just fine. I had one on a KLR 650 and it was nice, and I imagine the strom will do even better with its gearing and 6th gear.

Yes, you do need a subframe. i just bought a subframe from DMC for my strom, and it is a very substantial piece, but definitely required as the strom has no frame under the engine, and no suitable mounting points.

As it has an up graded wheel and axle, It should work ok as long as you are not going hard off road. I would not want to ride an event like the black dog with it but otherwise it would be "OK" You will however also require ballist in the sidecar. By the time you buy it and then buy the much needed sub frame that we can supply you may end up being into the rig as much as if you were to buy one of our Enduro sidecars which runs $2995 with all of the bike specific mounting hardware. We also recomend up grading the Velorex mounts from the sidecar. At this link is an explination as to what we do and why http://www.dmcsidecars.com/the-result-of-improper-sidecar-mounting-and-the-proper-fix/ The sub frame is needed as your bike has no lower frame at all. Also when ever you add a sidecar you end up with heavy steering. We make what we call leading legs to reduce steering effort. As you are more or less in our area (we are in Enumclaw WA) why not stop by while we do not have any V stroms in the shop right now we do have about a dozen other bikes including a Triumph Tiger which requires a similar sub frame, it also has leading legs installed. This bike will be here for a week as the owner is flying in next week to pick it up.

The Velorex has a FANTASTIC roof mechanism: it looks a bit like a pram, and takes a couple of minutes to put up, but it is very, very water-tight. It fits around the windscreen and pops onto the studs to become taut.
    well-worth the money.

Thank you all for the help, fellas.

I ended up putting a deposit on a Ural today...I think I'll leave the Strom a solo for now.

I still need to stop by dmc sometime.
