Thinking of painting my Versys because it has some minor fairing damage I need to fix. Any suggestions for color, stripes or other stuff. I was thinking cream or maybe BMW blue. I think a two tone color scheme would be nice but have no idea.

Add another to the list of V owners.

Long story short, I was stuck a couple of weeks ago when my previous ride needed extensive repairs and I needed a bike for a road trip that started the next day. Spur of the moment decision I asked if they would accept it as a trade and I would find "something" in their shop as an interim ride before I could spend the time figuring out what I really wanted. I was willing to take a bit of a hit as I was desperate for wheels that day.

The shop was a Kawi, Honda, Yami and Aprilia dealership and after wandering through all they had to offer (which was lots), I kept coming back to a 2011 NEW (2kms on the odo) V 650. And in black too, the fastest colour! I hadn't really paid much attention to the Versys before, but there was something about the bike that seemed right. Paid for the bike without even taking a test ride (no time) and off I went.

And damn, did I ever make a great decision! I've gone from thinking this will be a short term interim bike to now thinking it's a long term keeper! I feel like a little kid again who begged his father for that awesome red bicycle in the store window and then unwrapped it on Christmas day. I can't stop grinning!

this is still the feeling I get 2 years in every time I just see the bike. Its amplified when I get to ride it. I am glad you had a chance encounter that looks like its turning into a love affair.

It looks like an HDR picture, each layer or element of the pic has the exact correct exposure, the near and the far...

Is that a black front wheel on a blue gen1 Versys?

Yes sir, as is the rear one! I've got a buddy that does paint and powder-coating for bikes. The black hides the brake dust and dirt much better I think!

I always said I should have waited until I could have gotten a green gen1, since it has black wheels and forks, and then I could do like Browneye Chris and make my gen1 looks like his:

The black looks very sharp, however I'm opting for "Corvette Yellow."

Thanks for the compliment, it is an HDR shot using my Canon SX10. There is an HDR thread on ADV with many great pics from those much handier with a camera than myself.

Just over a month ago I posted this. After getting home and cleaning things up I found that when the chain broke it took out an external oil pipe (located just in front of the sprocket, behind a cast shield) and all the oil came out.

Well, I am happy to announce that the Burro rides again! New Oil Pipe, New sprockets, New chain, and a new rear tire. About $350 total and we are on the road. :clap

I have just returned from a trip up to Seattle WA without problems. The bike looks exactly the same so a new pic would look just like the old pic.

But I will tell you that she now has over 77K on the clock and I am pushing on to 100K

I got rid of my Versys a while back... My wife, and I both had them, she decided not to ride anymore, and we sold them, and bought a DL1000 Vstrom for 2up riding (i hate 2up riding on anything).. I'm keeping the strom also.

She now has decided to ride some, and I found a decent deal on a Versys, i'll prolly ride it most of the time :)

In 40+ years of riding the Versys has been my favorite bike, knocking the RD350's, and Gen1 FZ1's off the top...

The top box has to go...i'll use it only for trips.

Well done! Glad to see the Versys on the road again. I just turned 73k myself and shooting for 100k as well.
