There's a guy on the Modern Vespa forum who swapped his 12" wheels for 13" wheels! I think it looks awesome and I also think it makes sense to go to a bigger wheel size. He got the wheels from a Piaggio Yourban.

As a Vespa owner I can tell you the speedo is merely to get you in the ballpark....it's already off!

They are routinely 5% to 8% optimistic....larger wheels will probably bring it closer to being accurate.

Oooh that is a sweet looking scooter. It looks like the tires are lower profile than stock, it's possible the overall diameter is no bigger than the 12" tires with a taller sidewall. I don't like low profile tires. Not only do they give you a rough ride due to the fact that the sidewalls don't flex as much, they are also more likely to allow wheel damage. A lot of cars I see around here with 24" wheels and tires with a 1" wide sidewall have rim damage to the wheels.

That's right! The guy put some lower profile tires 13"/60 instead of 12"/70 so the overall diameter of the wheel wouldn't change. It's not all that dramatic though. He put on low profile radial tires. I think it's a good mod.

    That's very nice.
I'd love one of those. :deal

Also, I wouldn't worry much about performance differences, since playing
around with roller weights and dr pulley sliders is cheap and simple.
