First road trip on my new (to me) 2003 VFR. Loving it! And to my eyes, she is a "Looker"!!!
We have completely lost the plot, I tell you. :facepalm
Well, since we've gone so far off course, I might as well fuel the digression with a photo of the local Interceptor wing at the office...

Can you tell me something more about the rear seat bag?
Looks to be an Axio tail bag...
Here's a link in one of the VFR specific message boards...looks like a really nice bag. Scroll down about halfway and there's a silver one with a short review.
And just to make sure I keep up with posting pictures...
As Doc said, it is an Axio tailpack. In terms of color match, it is almost a perfect match for Honda Italian Red (now there's an oxymoron for you). I learned I hate tank bags, but the Axio tailpack is perfect for short hops. If I get time, I'll take some more photos of it with some items in it so you can get an idea of how much it holds. It is very secure and stable and reasonably water-resistant for light exposure to rain.
Yep, that is the link which set me off on my search for an Axio. They probably sold a few tailpacks because of his write-up.
Nice Gen 5 Doc. From whence did ye hail and to hence were ye bound with your heavily laden Viffer?
Thanks. I spent a night looking at RC30's. If there's any silver lining to getting rid of my BMW it will be getting a VFR and having some fun with it. I really love the various "Frankenviffers" that are out there. I love the engine but the bodywork has always seemed a bit dated looking and "heavy" so some light customizing could help me get a VFR that looks like a more modern RC30. Or something like the Frankenviffers below.
Seen any other good ones? I feel like a little updating could go a long way on a 4th or 5th gen.
The silver one and first red one are tasty!
Anyone know what tail piece is used?
The silver one is using an RC51 tail I believe. The last is MV F4 obviously.
You know, the G5 isn't as svelte as the later ones, but I still really like the proportions. In the "Land of the Infinite Garage," that's one of the first two bikes I'd add back in.
Travelled from Jefferson, GA (home) to Tellico Plains, TN for an Old School Rally. That is on Hwy 68 just south of Tellico Plains. It was an absolutely gorgeous day, and I had the entire road to myself...
Not my dog...but my camp setup...
I remembered that thread on the Axio, but had to use google to find it...great looking bag...much more elegant than my seat bag...
Now you got the gears turning, and I'm thinking I need to take a photo of a red '02 on that road. I'm just outside of Lawrenceville (or Larryville when we're not being so formal). A friend of mine who lives in St. Louis and I were planning to meet up outside of Nashville to ride the Blueridge Parkway, and I had been on the fence whether to go up Hwy 68 on my way or to strike out up through the NW corner of GA, through Alabama, and then into TN. I think you just helped me make up my mind.
See, this is another of the times I need to just go away from this thread...
Nice Yella one.
Trouble, trouble: a clean 2001 VFR800i just popped up on my radar, tucked away at a local shop. The bike has 25K on it, a Staintune pipe and newish tires. According to the salesman, it has been serviced and is good to go, all for the rock bottom price of $3400 plus fees.
Should I do it?
Here is me: 31, currently riding a 2003 SV1000N modded for sport touring (lower pegs, corbin, techspec pads, grip puppies). Lots of bikes in the past, but currently interested in adding either a sport-tourer or sportbike to the mix. Right now, I've been looking for a nice sprint st1050 (already owned and liked a 955i ST) or at vfrs. I would prefer something with hard luggage or luggage options.
Riding: I like to scratch nearby mountains and go for longer trips. The last few years have been long weekends (since I sold my land mule, 1150gs), but I have ambitions about heading out for longer rides again. I used to go for a few weeks at a time.
continuing the photo-trend
Tastefully modified of course...
Hondas always look better with white wheels.
