    Folks,

Timings have changed slightly, and some interesting options developed, as well as riders wanting to rendezvous on the return journey, so Doug and I met this morning to update the trip plan, and roll it out for discussion.

Keeping in mind, the primary objective is to ride, and return happy and healthy, and still friends.

Secondary objective to ride the Historic Alaska highway.

Tertiary objective is to get to the Arctic Circle.

    (other options listed below)

Probably the most interesting route would be to return via the Cassiar Highway. This also gives options of coming back to Calgary via Nelson and other places. The Top of World (TOW) Highway is one that has interest, but may also be challenging with fully loaded bikes.

If we ride TOW and return via Cassiar, it will be almost exactly 8000km.

In all cases, projected return day is Friday June 28, which means - at the groups discretion, a rest day could be thrown in any day, or a long day cut into two days for a bit of a rest.

Stop-overs are selected to make days roughly 700-1000km, and for camping/interest/logistics...

    Route back:
    -----------------
Option 1: same as route up:

Option 2: Cassiar Highway: (Note: Above TOW options still apply either to or from Fairbanks)

Hey! Your motorcycle collection looks amazing! I can't easily see from your website where the museum and cafe are located (get that marketing team back in, they're not done yet! ;-). Where are you?

Thanks Paul. "The dirt" is what I am most looking forward to! In fact .... don't people ride up all the way to Alaska just for the dirt, eh?

In Princeton i was too lazy to camp, i mean "it looked like rain" so got the Ponderosa; nice little motel ... $69, but gave me a corporate rate of $65. Includes breakfast. :-) haha

At the Brown Bridge Pub in Princeton.
Good food, great service, lots of tv screens.

Texting with a friend he said "have a cold one for me" ... My response was "Hmmm....interesting. In fact, "Having another or not" was the current dilemma. .... #timesarerough"

Okanagan springs Pale Ale...it's the local brew, apparently.

The Hope-Princeton highway (#3, Crowsnest) today was a beautiful ride, wide straights, nice scenery, sharp twisties --- a lot of variety on the road. Saw Moose, deer as well. I recommend stopping and looking at Manning Park. And Bridal Veil fall Falls if you need fuel, is a good place to stop and check out the forests as well...

Riding solo right now which is fun but looking forward hooking up with the rest of the group. With the Calgarians! :-)

    June 19. Rain and mud!

Hey guys, greetings from Cache Creek.

I'm on track to meet you Friday in Dawson Creek. Been a bit wet so far... But great riding and I'm enjoying being solo.
Having a few technology issues, but working that out as we go here. See you all soon!

(Oh right and I got my first gravel road in today...or is that a mud road...and the calcium makes it slippery apparently!)

It's been a nice ride out of Princeton. The road was closed between Princeton and Merritt, that's the highway 58. So I went back to the tourist information center and asked about alternative routes, Making sure to mention that I have a motorcycle that will go on gravel as well :-).

So she sent me at the backroad towards to the mean and passed Otterlake and to Aspen Grove where it reconnected with hwy 5A and made it to Merritt.

I found the gravel part of the road to be quite slick. It had been raining hard and my friend in Merritt said that they put calcium on the gravel roads to keep the dust down and that that makes it slippery when wet.

Beautiful scenic country through here lots of winding roads and some big straightaways too, very little traffic mostly trucks and they're all really good drivers no problem at all. Even had a stretch of hundred mile an hour on the Coquihalla highway (#5).

Left 100 mile House this morning at 9:30 ... to Quesnel for gas at 11:30 now resting in Prince George. Prince George is a fairly major northern town, so I hope to get supplies and whatever else I need before striking out to meet my party at Dawson Creek. I want to get another litre of 20w50 synthetic oil, whiskey, and a few other bits and bobs.
One of the main problems to solve, is how to offload footage from my contour camera on the road quickly and easily.

Lots of Traffic Dawson Creek to Fort Nelson, then started easing up. Spent the night in a lovely little campground "Testsa River" with a horde of hungry Mosquitos. The guys that brought the $12 MEC bug shirts were happy campers.

Morning ride was about the best you could imagine...now dining in Teslin Motel - chicken dinner, Yukon Style!

Next stop, sleep at Whitehorse tonight.

Somewhere between Haines Junction and Beaver Creek. Small service station and I ran into Mike that I know from Calgary. What are the chances.

The Alaska highway along Kluane is just magical!

Shooting for the Alaska border tonight. Running a bit behind due to some missed turns...
