Many thanks for taking the time and effort to make your report,
Once again: you absolutely rock, Xdream. One of the best reports on the site, I'm glad you've decided to stick around! So many stunning photos, this was one of my favourites:
I'm posting on behalf of a friend of mine (I too think your trip is awesome, though)
"Mate, what an amazing trip.
We were in Yakutsk with Motoreiter thenight you arrived. We may have briefly met at the Chicago bar, we left when the motorcycle club arrived.
We had just returned after an epic trip ourselves via the Old Summer Road to Magadan and then returning to Yakutskvia the new Federal Highway via Ust Nera. We were in two Toyota Landcruiser Pickups. Our blog entry is on http://www.travelpod.com/s/threeinatruck?st=user or go to www.travelpod.com search for travellers "threeinatruck".
I am amazed at how much the water levels changed over the two weeks or so from when you tried to do the old road and when we did. We seemed to get very lucky with the weather, but the bogs were still over the hood of a toyota with lifted suspension. And the base was pretty soft in some of them too. From the various ride reports and other blog entries, the 2011 season seems to have been very short as people were reporting high water levels late in June. I feel privileged to have successfully made the old summer road route.
I followed Colebatch and other rider reports before we left for the Far East of Russia and have to say a big thank you to all of you who have posted on the forum! This sort of travel is enough of an adventure with a 4x4, I am in awe of you blokes on bikes who make the journey. "
Amazing funny report - 5 stars.
Thanks for sharing.
What are you going to be doing in Kamchatka? More skiing? I was there many moons ago for some rafting, glacier/volcano hiking, etc. very cool.
I would love to meet up but doubt I'll be able to...my job is kind of brutal and it is hard for me to leave the office on weekdays. But who knows, let me know once the date is closer and we'll see. Or if you take up Azmo's offer and get into the center, let me know...
The post two above this one is from John, the 4x4 guy I met in Yakutsk. I have to say that the videos he showed and the stories he told me of his OSR transverse were part of the reason I was hesitant to go: he went when it was "dry", and still many of the "puddles" along the road were over the hood of a large 4x4. And it was wetter when we got there...
Excellent report. I used to read a page or two every morning over my cornflakes and then dream about doing the same whilst at work.
What the fuck am i going to do now then????
Thanks for sharing.
Yes the message was from Jon. I think he missed Xdream by a day or so?
He wanted to let you know that he is currently planning his annual desert trek in August, he will be driving 1500 km west from Brisbane then contining on into the Simpson, for lots of sand, space and probably mud.
What an excellent video and what an inspiration ride.
It was pleasure to read your ride report.

I know I'm late on this... But awesome job and excellent RR. I can't believe you had the balls to ride across the Vitna River Bridge! Right on!
Wow, just wow. Thanks for the RR - those videos had me holding my breath!
Very few folks can actually write, post pictures, and videos in such a way as to make you feel as if you were on the trip with them! Awesome report, and great adventure!
Damn! I was born in Siberia, but had never been to those places except Vladivostok. Now I ask myself - why? whyyyyyyyyyy??? Thanks for share your amazing adventure with us
XDream, I finally got the chance to read through your ride report, and thoroughly enjoyed the story! You bring Russia and the riding in Siberia and the Far East to life! Look forward to seeing your next adventure! Thanks!!!
Just stumbled onto this one from a google search,
Truly an excellent adventure,
Thank you for taking the time and effort to post it,
Edit: Oh, and I almost forgot, please convey a special thanks to your wife for letting you go and for supporting
your adventurous lifestyle. My wife is very much the same way, they are few and far between.
She deserves a lot of credit too.
