Wonderful ride report and beautiful photographs, thanks for taking the time to share with us!
Are you still here in the US?
The trip was in Oct2012. I am now back in Vietnam. Hopping to be back soon...
I passed Blood Mountain again, alone. Rain kept dropping, the road was very wet. It was not fun at all on Blood Mountain that day.
It's better and better when coming nearer to Sy's place.
Arrived Sy's work place around noon time and it was hot there:
Here's how the VFR come back to its owner:
Sy took his car and come back with me to his house. Ed was already there to wait for me. A happy reunion:
Met Ed and Sy, I have nothing much to say more than my thankful to them. It was amazing time in my life, and it was really created by them.
Riding tracklog of my 7th day with VFR:
And here is the summary of my riding trip to Great Smoky Mountain:
Ed and I back to Atlanta. Sy back to his work.
We met a gain in a farewell dinner, and Mike came to join us again - It's really great to see him so happy :
Someone got drunk so getting this photo out of focus :
Slept very well for the last night in Georgia. Woke up very early and bother Uncle Ed again to drive me to the airport.
We was talking about coming back for another ride... and many others...
He took a photo of me before heading back to his house.
On the plane, I was recalling all of my memory about the trip. It looked like a movie, with lots of beautiful scenes, moments and all the awesome friends.
Talked to myself that I have to come back again.
Arrived Houston when the sun was raising:
I got another rental car for another day, drove to my friend's house:
Took a photo with him before we all going for another farewell dinner in a Mongolian restaurant:
Drove to the Airport in the next morning, transited in Chicago and then Narita (Tokyo) again.
I arrived my home sweet home with lots of great memories about all of my riding buddies; all the great and awesome guys who really make my trip.
I don't really know how to say, just thank you All, my Friends. Wish you All happy and ride safe, always!
Very nice!! Thanks for sharing your trip.

Thank you guys for reading.
Really miss the place, friends and beautiful scenery there...
Love to experience Colorado and Arkansas for the next trip....
Excellent report and stunning photos.
Many thanks for sharing.
Thank you. Really happy to know that you guys like it.
Having a friend who plans to ride in US from this May-June... My heart is beating like hell...
Really awesome report! Read the whole thing! It has been nice to meet you through advrider and I am so glad to see you enjoyed NC. It is always nice to have such great friends to share the fun. Thanks for sending me the link to this. In your report, you recall Lake Logan I am sure...well...I live two minutes from there so if you get back this way, I would love to show you around as there are many, many roads as nice as the Dragon, not as well known, but lots of fun and very scenic. I am getting older now so I stop often for photos or just to think I have been riding in these hills for about 50 years( or more as we had dirt bikes as kids) so there are a few places I could share. Take Care! Ed
Thanks Ed, It's really my great time. Up to now, it's my ride of the life time. Ride on great roads, see all the beautiful landscape, meet great riders... what else I should expect?!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
If knowing you before the trip, definitely I would pass by for at least a visit. I was very impressed by the Lake Logan. Its really beautiful. If I was there earlier, I may be able to see some fog hanging on the water. That would be awesome scene.<o></o>
Talking about great roads, I have ridden on few of the best (twisty) roads at NC, which could be considered better than the Dragon. However, as you and many people know, Dragon is a very well known place, and it worth it for a foreigner like me to come, ride, and ... of course, take photos. LOL... However, if having you there, I would know the best roads around as I believe your 50 years riding there could tell a lot.<o></o>
I got your location already, really hope we can have dinner at El Pobre restaurant some day.<o></o>
One year from this trip now. .
When could I come back for a longer ride....!!??
Thank you very much Tex76 for the photo.
TWT and ACE MTSG stickers are still there after almost 2 years .
Heading to Tellico Plains, TN this coming weekend. I live in Nashville,TN so I have ridden a lot of the roads you rode. But I have been wanting to ride to Highland NC for a while now since I have never been, so I enjoyed your report and perspective on the area. I plan to ride to Highland this coming trip!
I visited Vietnam in 1974 for a couple of days when my dad moved us to Thailand for 4 years and really liked it. I first started riding motorcycles in the jungles of Chang Mai Thailand on a Honda trail 70. I have never been back since, but would really like to come back and ride SE Asia on a motorbike, I know it has changed a lot in the last 40 years but it is there where my love of motorcycles began.
So now you must have a trip report, and you could show us more detail about Highland, the little nice town which I wish to spend a night there.
Come back here for a visit. Sure you gotta back after that many many times.
I enjoy you're ride reports VietHorse, glad you got to experience that part of the USA during the fall colors.
There's so much more to see, hope you come back.
Thanks for sharing it.
