Haha, I'm scheduled for the Barbed Wire enduro on Sunday, but really looking forward to beating my head against the wall. I like your plan of hitting every moto class, and thereby riding all day on race day :rofl

The 89 CR125 blew another head gasket last week so I thought the head might have warped a little from the first overheating, I am fixing it old school.

I could see some discoloring here and this would be the hottest part of the head which is right above the exhaust port.

I colored the head so when "lapping" the head I could see high or low spots.

A piece of glass and some 150 emery for the initial cutting. I know this is not the same as machining but this is vintage racing?

You can see the low spots

Finished with the 150 and it looks good, the 320 is next.

Polished with the 320, it came out very nice. We'll see if it holds this time?

The Honda is a great bike, very mellow motor and great Honda handling.
With all the hrs I put on I like to get a new bike every yr or two as it probably saves money in the long run.
I had a 2012 KTM 150 SX on order and it came in last week but I just couldn't go for it after all the mechanical issues I had with my 09 150. So there are 2 choices if you want a new 125 and it's either orange or blue (aside from Husky and TM) and I chose to go with the more reliable tried and true Yamaha. I hopefully will get out on it today and give a full ride report later.
Yes I am afraid of the rain Kenny, I melt in it....

Ok, had a good time at the super seceret test facility in Ct on the 2011 YZ 125. I did do some break in heat cycles at the house on Saturday as well as went easy for the first 2-3 moto's today and didn't really beat it much all day.
The engine is smooth as silk with plenty of mid range a nice top but no real hit to the motor, the KTM had a wicked top end that exploded which was nice in certain situations but not so in others. Yz linear and easy to ride,KTM a rocket ship and a bit of a handful at times. The YZ was not slow in anyway and I was actually surprised how quick it was, very easy to ride.
The handling was completly neutral, again very easy to ride, very refined unlike the rough edges of the KTM, suspension was perfect and did nothing what so ever to kick or jump on the braking bumps as well as soaked up many of the short or flat landings I had today. I have to say I was very impressed with the bike!
I loved my KTM and bought two in the last three years but was looking for a change and I think I am happy with the change I made. The KTM's are like stallions that buck you but also can be unbelivebly fast and the Yamaha feels more refined and developed like a cutting horse...time will tell

My only complaint on the YZ is the handgrips, they are so hard that my well callused hands from riding twice a week were basiclly bleeding at the end of the day. they get changed tomorrow
