Seems like you and I think similar thoughts.

I've contemplated BMW 800's [but have already been down the GS road and learned how expensive and unreliable they really are], KTM's [but I don't need an artificial penis, my real one performs just fine], Triumph 800XC [but it just didn't quite manage to light my fire], and other odd "maybe's that really don't do it for me either.

My '09 Wee just keeps on going and thus keeps hanging around.

My other bike is an old '94 Kawasaki KLE500 that does good touring and really good off the beaten track away from tar.

But the Wee is just one of those "do it all without fuss" bikes. :clap

Got my Gerbing G3's wired up last night, finally ditching the hippo hands.
My Heidenau K60 Scout rear tire came in yesterday, looking forward to giving it a whirl.
Jesse "scratch and dent" sidecases coming in next week to replace my redneck ammo cans.

    Love this bike.

I got my 2011 650 wee for the 2012 year, and I racked up 25 000 kms so far, and I find it to be a awesome unit for my neededs. I did 800 kms of narrly back roads in Northern BC, and now I'm suiting it up with some Heidenau Scout tires.

It is twice as my DRZ 400, but my wee is more for the highway and odd dry gravel roads, Ha Ha. and swamps if I don't look where I'm going !!!

    Hi All,

I've been lurking for a while as I considered getting a DL1000. Well, a good friend sold me his 2005 yesterday. I can now add another to the poll.

I only rode it about 30 miles yesterday so I don't even know where every thing is. The wind buffeting seemed pretty bad, but other than that it is very nice. I'll post a picture later today, and I'll be spending a lot more time on this thread.:clap

Welcome to the big Vee world.

See the thread on wind buffeting on the vstrom website, or just cut to the chase....buy a better windshield and Madstat bracket and be done with it, easy fix.

Myself, I bought the CalSci windshield, medium height for my height range (5'8", 30" inseam) and the Madstat for fine tuning angle and height and now its smooth air, couldnt be happier! :clap

    Thanks!! Ordered today!

Also the PO lowered the bike and I'm thinking of bringing it back up (I don't mind using tipie toes). Any thoughts? Wife and I will be two up, mostly tarmac, but we like to see where the dirt roads go.

    Thanks again.

I drilled a hole in the stock cap (the part you turn it by) and a hole in the nearest case screw and safety-wired it. I also drilled the drain plug and safety wired it as well as putting a hose clamp around the oil filter and safety wiring IT.

I'm a belt and suspenders kind of guy when it comes to the oil in my machine. :D

I ordered a new set of non stock sprockets for my DL 1000 a few weeks ago along with a Speed Healer from Blue Monkey to correct my speedometer. I had them sent to North Carolina and my wife was going to pick them up and bring them to me in Mexico.

The sprockets arrived before she left for MX but the Speed Healer didn't make it. I checked UPS tracking and it won't be delivered until today, 11 days after it was shipped. Yesterday (Sunday) I sent an email to Blue Monkey asking if this was normal. I received an answer within hours saying it was not normal and they were refunding my shipping charges.

Great customer service Todd Robinson, sales manager at Blue Monkey! I will definitely buy from them again in the future.:clap

hi... am a new owner of VSTROM DL1000, bought a used K9 with only 3,+++ miles on the clock. so far, am enjoying every mile that we take together and am very SATISFIED with its performance. (thanks to my friend, HERC, who also owns one for introducing the VEE to me).
right now, i do have a 2007 BMW G650 XCHALLENGE in my stable, and am willing to let go of her (BMW), to find a small brother of my VEE... a WEE...
    thanks to strom riders.
    cheers.... :beer
