New Wee owner in Ohio. I had a DR650 for a few years and put 30000 miles on it and also have a Wr250r so I was looking for a better road bike. I test rode a KTM990 and loved it but the next day found a great deal on a 2009 strom with 7500 miles. Most of the farkles were already on it. I added new handle bars, real barkbusters, and new tires. I have had it 2 weeks and have put about 300 miles on it. Leaving monday to ride to Va. Beach (600 miles) and planing to be home friday. I do have a Givi top case and givi side boxes. More pictures to come next week.

I just bought a 2009 Wee w/ABS yesterday, thanks to your help and guidance. It 11,000 mi. and is in like new condition. It also has grip heaters and extender fenders.I just ordered an SW-Motech engine guard,Coocase S50,3/4 lowering bone,I hope the lowering doesn't change the handling,MRA 20" vario shield w/Madstad bracket.I will be getting hardbags(Givi) when I decide which ones to get.

Just picked up this leftover 2012 last week. I put 250 miles on it Saturday, so much fun. I have found that with a little bit of tuck and the windscreen at the highest setting, and earplugs, the wind on the highway isn't too bad.

I have 50,000km on my 2007 wee! I bought her new from the local Suzuki dealer. Farkled out with the basics for ADV touring. Synthetic oil keeps the motor happy. I replaced the front wheel bearing last summer with a sealed unit. I just broke my first turn signal, after a tip over:cry Duct tape is holding it together, until my replacement arrives. Best bike I have owned! I am thinking of buying a new one next spring.[IMG]

On a road trip, hanging out in Phoenix AZ, and it's time for replacement chain because I have stretched it almost to the limit, and a new rear sprocket for good measure because 2 or 3 teeth on the current one are a little iffy.

    DL650 V-Strom 2008 model

Suggestions? High mileage/long lasting would be excellent, but whatever is best on the market and works for a Wee.

    P.S.

I bought a V Strom last year for a trip cross Canada last year, and I ended up covering 12.000 kms from Alberta to Ontario, then dead head back to BC... I was on the road for 28 days, and by far it was the biggest motorcycle trip I ever pulled off to date, and I hope to continue to live the dream !!!

The bike thing was a long time coming, and I'm glad to be back in the saddle after a 14 year brake from it as I tried my hand at the BC snowmobile thing... I had my bearings on BC with smaller bikes and quads before I started sledding, and now with the middle age thing I decided it was time to see more then just snow on top of the Mountains looking down. Ha Ha. I think that looking up at them will be much easier now that I have wheels under me...

The V Strom wasn't working out as good as I thought it would off highway, but the new tire change really changed the handling of it, so it will be a keeper. I add bark-buster hand guards, aluminum skid plate, 12 volt out let, and a air pillow to sit on for the long trips that are planed this year. I hope to hear about some mods you folks have done on your own units, and some places around North America that might be nice to see. A all out open thread is the best way to meet new V Strom dudes around the world because we never know who we might meet along the way !!!

For all of you V-strom owners. As you may know Suzuki is offering 0% financing for up to 5 yrs. I would like to buy a bike for my wife and I to tour the back roads of Maine, am wondering with me @ 5'8" 190lbs and her @ 5'2" 118 lbs will the 650 fit our needs or will I be wishing I had bought the 1000??

I'm 1k owner and when I used put my friend on the back (before she got her own bike) and go camping for the weekend I was always glad I had the 1k. I'm 6' even about 160, she is tiny 5'4" 100.

There are different views, but in my experience, tooling around 2-up with similar specs is just fine. It's fairly comfortable and still flickable. My girl won't do it without a topcase to rest on. Fully loaded two up for a week camping trip and it is a different story; it felt top heavy, sluggish, and performed marginally better than my Hyundai Accent. If your plans will evolve beyond backroads, you should look beyond the 650. (I've never ridden the Vee)
