I had the title for my YZ450F, and it was a vague crapshoot still yet.....
So I think I will keep looking. 2 months until I can ride so no rush.
I've seen old 2 stroke KTMs get plated, I've seen all kinds of "originally not intended to be plated" bikes get plated. If it's been titled in another state, no problem. If you've got a title, and the bike can pass inspection, I've never seen an issue with that either. But I have seen someone buy a brand new Yamaha YZ450 and add lights, horn, etc, and then take it down to get it tiled, and be told no way, no how. Apparently the person who told him he could do it, was trying to do him a favor. It backfired, and he lost a lot of money. I owned a plated XR650R....titled out of state. Easiest way to go.
There are PLENTY of plated KTMs out there. Buy one already plated, it's not worth the trouble to plate one yourself.
Any KTM can get plated fairly easy in NC...
If you don't have title, just has to have an "inspection" sometimes..
they aren't flagged in the book, soooo... they will plate them.
I've come to realize this. That's why I hang out with all you Raleigh/Fayetteville guys...
I'm working on getting tags on the XR400. Highway patrol said they would take a look at it and write a letter.
Wish me luck!
I will be back to riding at the end of May. hopefully a smaller, lighter DS will quickly follow.
I wanted to join in on the thread as well guys. I'm in Leland NC now. Right where the new bypass from 74-17 is cutting through. Looking for more people to ride with. I am on a gsx650f it can do a little hard dirt.
Hey Matt, good to know you've healed well enough to start thinking about riding again. I saw you inquire about the Husaberg in the flea market. That bike caught my eye as well. If you get it worked out I'd be happy to give you a hand picking it up.
Hey JLock, I'm in Leland as well. I can show you a few spots around the area if you'd like.
Good to see some life in this thread again!
Well I didn't get the bike back working last night I stripped a bolt, maybe tonight I can work it out. I would like to check some places out, I have been in the area for the past 3 years though and NC my whole life so I have seen most of it.
Oh cool. just assumed you were new to the area. Well in that case, you can show me around!
I am always looking for some out of the way rides. My GS may be large but she's nimble!!
I will think about some cool places. I'm going to ride the in the mountains next week so maybe we could get together sometime the following week
Or just Find some tags
Good to see some new blood in the area. and more big bikes too.
Maybe I will try to swing a leg over a bike a little sooner. so light riding should be possible.
I leave Wednesday for RDV but maybe we all can put a ride together for the weekend after that. I still owe you a tank of gas Matt...
The folllowing weekend would be good for me as far as I know
Might be interesting or lots of rusty Harley junk.
What ever happened to that Husaberg you were thinking about Matt?
Oh, does anyone have a tire changer, or at least a bead breaker in the area?
