@MotoFlicka, the 7100 south out of Cashmere has a tank trap at the Peavine Creek intersection. From there up to Beehive Reservoir, the road has washed out in a few places. It's doable, but I wouldn't do it solo.
At Peavine Creek, go left/uphill and this will take you over the top and down #2 Canyon into town. Road towards the bottom is rough, rutted and rocky, but then you hit pavement. Follow it on down past the gun club, and the road makes a hard left. Take your first right after that, and go right at the traffic light. Stay on that road, and it will take you our of town and up towards Mission Ridge ski area. When you see Squilchuck State Park, you're getting close- the Beehive Reservoir turn off is a few miles up, not well marked, and just before a nice tight left hand sweeper.
The road up to the reservoir is usually pretty washboarded, bit continue on past the res, up the hill, and go left at the only intersection. You're back on 7100, heading towards Haney Meadows, and then to Ellensburg. One of my favorite riding areas.
Yes, you have to ride through the south end of town, but it's way funner and keeps you off the slab. When I lived in Cashmere, #2/Peavine/7100 was me preferred commute home from Wenatchee.

Headed out next weekend on the 7th. or 8th. If the CDR is doable in majority then I'll start North on the WABDR near the Nighthawk POE and ride south, then connect up to the CDR from Mosier (via Old Dalles Mtn. Road).

Some good kiteboarding and local Mosier friends opened up the Mosier Company where the Thirsty Woman used to be, so I figured it would be a great time to visit.

I just came down the CDR from Roosville BC and the section from Seeley Lake to Lincoln is closed. It's smoky most of the way through Montana and Idaho. Fantastic riding! I got to Salida CO before heading back north.

I'm coming up from Boise and will be in Hood River in the afternoon. If anyone wants to head north with me shoot me a pm. I'll be leaving Monday morning and cutting off at HWY 410 to FS 70 and back to Seattle

Want to address couple of these,
Due to new home construction the top of #2 Cyn is now do-able in your minivan. From the pave to the gated off mtb section It's a smooth gravel road. From there it does get slightly rougher (grandma on the klr/gs/ural could do it).
Beware on the 7100 Rd there were some slides a few miles west of Beehive. They have been "addressed" and have some "singletrack" sections through them. No 4x4 is getting through there at this time. Some riders on "larger" bikes have experienced their bikes stopping for nap time in these sections. It is doable though. Oliver D has some pics of the area on page 210.

Just got turned around on road 4330 about 5 miles in from the north in section 5. Fire crews were building a break, suggested black canyon as a possible alternative but I didn't try it. Hit chelan on the slab.

Here in Cascade with a nice fire. Police and local news all around. Had to ask the trooper to cross the bridge since I'm staying at the motel. Plan is to start tomorrow but wanna do section 1 and 2 in a day. Leaving at 6am. I'm not speeding through as far as how I ride and want to take the difficult route as well as that washed section. So. Not sure how feasible it is.

Best of luck We stayed with the section a day, 1st leg nothing special we thought, 2nd section we liked a lot, Bethel ridge great route, we opted not to do the difficult baby head hill/Umtanum ridge. Had to assist some big 1200s a few times at end of Bethel section so slowed us up. Overall I estimate actual on saddle ride time was 10-11 hours for total 1&2.

Tried to get thru washout on 9712, section 3, but not able to manually assist the heavy 1200 thru so turned back. That ride up to the slide (photos above from yesterday's nice post) was worth it none the less we thought. Just turned back and ride fast back and to hwy97 then into Cashnere.

As far as I can tell the fires that need some attention from us planning to ride this week are:

    * East Crater Fire - NF-24 follows the Eastern edge of the closure zone
    * Norse Peak Fire - WA-410 is closed about 20km East of where we turn off
    * Jolly Mountain - WTF who knows but may need to re-route through Naneum/Colockum area
    * Blewett Pass - not on fire maps yet, but Rover31 says to take Hwy 97 to Cashmere
    * Uno Fire - Copper Mountain Rd kisses the edge of the closure area

Some of these need a re-route right now, and some may need it if the conditions change.

Not to distract from all the fire discussion (hope everyone is safe and taking necessary precautions)...
but I came across this great video just released featuring Baby Head Hill. Really helpful for anyone planning on giving it a try.

Riding the route south to north the washout section wasn't bad but I could see where a large bike might want a buddy around. Now the nearly 8 feet of vertical wall with a bit of kicker at the bottom about 100 feet up from the washout was interesting. Everyone in my group did fine.
