Got off work at 2:30 pm on Sunday 5/25/09. So I was late for the main event.
They were expecting 400,000 motorcycles and they were everywhere. It was really something to see.

The Lincoln Memorial is in the back in this shot.

Wherever there was grass there was parking.

Riding down the walkways was a rare treat

This is West Potomac Park. The TV shows Bones and NCIS have done scenes here. This is also central for the cherryblossom festival in spring.

This Marine was very popular and looked like he was having a good time too! :D

I really enjoyed that. The Thunder from the Harley's was continuous. I'm sorry I missed the parade which was from the Pentagon to the Lincoln Memorial. The thing about that is, if there was that many motorcycles, many, if not most, would be finished with the parade before many would have started.

I saw 2 GS bmw's. No other KLR's. I guess it is a Harley event. What other machine makes rolling thunder.

    Cool :clap

I was there Friday and Saturday but left early Sunday morning. We were planning on doing the parade but didn't end up having time. We did a little of the Run for the Wall. Seemed dangerous when they wanted you to run 70 mph, side by side, and about 10 feet off the bike in front of you. Amongst ourselves (me and three buddies) we decided to bail out at the first stop past Lewisburg, WV. We rode on to DC by ourselves and had a blast.

Ran 70 the whole way from Huntington, WV and the KLR was flawless.

I got a lot of strange looks from the Harley guys too, but at the same time I got a lot of compliments. More then the sport bikes I was riding with. :rofl

Rolling Thunder came through here today on the way to Andersonville.

A whole bunch of locals rode over there with them.

....rode my 950 SM to the Marine Corps Museum that day, there were a cuppla hundred Harleys parked there. Made the mistake of nodding to a few HD riders as I parked my bike. Nothing but cold stares returned. Was sort of funny....max pretense...ya wudda thought I was Viet Cong :bmwrider

    Aww shoot man,

I found a whole group of Harely riders parked for a parade.

I told them my bike would ride circles around theirs.

They looked at me like I was crazy.

They looked at me like I was even crazier when I rode two complete circles around them as they were all parked in the field.

    FOlks just dont understand me.
