Another barn-find ! I have been lucky enough to find four during the past year. It seems the WNC area is untapped for 70's vintage bikes in old barns and buildings.

I have wanted a 2-stroke road bike for several months, and SuperBowl Sunday proved fruitful. We attended a party sunday evening to see some old friends, cut a deck of cards for high card, and come away with a bike for $100 !

The bike is a 1973 Suzuki GT750. Some of you may remember them, others never knew 2-stroke road bikes were ever made. I haven't seen one, in person, for 20 years. This bike is a one owner, and been sitting since 1991. Surprising good shape for the years of being dormant. As soon as I go through the bike, I will ride it like I stole it ! Watch out for the smokescreen !

I found a 1973 Honda CB200 that Lesa is buying. She might create a flat tracker style bike with it.

I love the GT750s. They were initially called the "LeMans" by Suzuki. Watch for seized cylinder studs.

Damn nice find, Don! I didn't know anybody with one of those back in the day. But I rode a 72 Kaw H2 750 for a couple of years around 74-76.

I think the Suzuk/Yamahai dealer up in Titusville still has a pristine Gt 750 on display in his showroom (along with two pristine Yam YSR 50s).

Ahh, the bygone era of big 2-strokes on the streets. :freaky

I have always liked the Buffalo ... there is quite a following you know. At any given time there are several being parted out on eBay.

I'm hunting around Central NY for barn bikes - what's your secret/modus operandi? I've only been able to see ones that others have cast off after they found them in the barn. Any suggestions?

I owned one for 10 years back in the day. Mine was a '75 a GT-750M, the one you have I think is the first year for disc brakes.

Check and make sure the oil pump is adjusted correctly as during the first several thousand miles it was set pretty rich, back it off and most of the smoke goes away! I believe there are markings in the housing on the right side of the engine. I could go 800 miles or so on a quart of 2 stroke oil and the milage was in the low to mid 40mpg overall. It should make a nice and easy touring bike just understand that above 100mph things got a little loose! A fair amount of power 65bhp I think, 525 lbs, and skinny tires!
I put a pair of aftermarket shocks and heaver fork springs in and it helped alot!

You need to get the rubber cones for the ends of the mufflers too.

    Keep us posted!

I'll try and find the picture, I race one in production class back in the late 70s, Ron Grant motor, it was wicked fast, and wabble just a little bit in turn one (the drag strip at the time) as Sears Point.

Wish I had a good answer for you, but all I can give you is networking, with everyone you know that has an interest in motorcycles. Friends, fellow riders, sales staff and mechanics at the local shops, and most importantly, individuals that privately acquire or collect vintage bikes. I usually have a line on 3 or 4 at a time, but normally 1 of every 10 pans out. Send me a PM and let me know what you are looking for and I might turn one up. I found a CB750 tuesday, and knew a fellow advrider was looking for one, called him, and he bought it the next day. Good luck !

I know where a mid-70's H-2 is, PM if interested.
