I'm looking for the best way to mount my Galaxy S4 as a navigator. Options I'm looking at include the Ram Aqua Box and mount and the Otterbox Defender. Looks like the Defender clip could be altered to attach a Ram ball. Any experience or suggestions, either these 2 options, or any others? Looks like the Otterbox offers the option of plugging it in while in the case (would no longer be WP of course)...does the Aquabox?

I got an Aquabox large enough to let me plug in the charger to my S4. It is so big you could put a small tablet in it. Plus the phone overheats when trapped inside and charging. Touch screen doesn't work very well in it. And the screen is blurry through the rubber front cover.

Doesn't look like you can charge while it is in that box. Not real sure you can even access the touch screen.

An extra battery should do fine. I'll find out Thursday about it's usability.

Thanks for the recommendations. I ended up going with the Seidio Obex case that Cataract recommended, got it yesterday. Looks to be decently made, with openable covers over the charging port and headphone jack. There is an available "belt holster" is pretty solidly made, it's a formed, "snap in" mount like a unit-specific Ram mount. Took about 5 minutes to pop the belt clip off and drill a couple holes for a Ram ball. Looks like it will be a piece of cake to use on the bike.

As the owner of an S4, I will be interested in how its battery life holds up when used as a navigator. Other threads not specifically about the S4 seem to indicate that keeping a phone charged while navigating can be problematic. Will be interested to see how it works for you.

Sample videos with a Samsung Galaxy S3 and iMountZ case, chest mount.

Haven't tweaked the angle yet on the chest mount, but will tonight with some foam.

I ordered a couple replacement batteries on Amazon.

I hope to find a telescopic lens to fit the same thread as the fish eye lens.

Not certain if the GoPro mounts will match up but I should know soon.

Haven't explored if a bluetooth mic will give me voice-over on the video yet.

Obviously can't see the GPS map but bluetooth ear phones will give me turn by turn. A tolerable comprimise.

I will be commuting tonight with video, OsmAnd and Pandora running simultaneous. Probably melt the phone into a blob, inside the IP68 case. :lol3.

This video is using an App called Camera ICS. 1080P and the audio source switched to microphone from camcorder. No more wind noise.

I haven't tried a Bluetooth mic yet because I don't have one. I just Bluetooth headphones. I guess I'm reluctant to the idea of receiving a phone call while I'm riding but I'm researching which Bluetooth mic system, I want to buy.

    Thx...nlp
