We found a beach campsite somewhere south of Waldport, OR.
I think it was at the Carl G. Washburn Memorial State Park?

I took my sweetie for a long walk on the beach.

We dipped our boots into the Pacific Ocean.

It was looking like another nice beach sunset! I was excited!

    Our shadows were long.

I shot this wide panorama, but it didn't stitch so well because of the moving water.

It rained some overnight and in the morning we packed up a wet tent.

Adventures in Chain Maintenance: I had a small can of Bel-Ray Superclean Chain Lube. The can was apparently defective as it leaked more onto my hands than onto the chain. Sticky chain lube is not easy to wash off when camping. I also accidentally stepped on the cap this morning. Now I had no way to keep it from leaking in my jacket pocket. So in the dumpster the vile juice went. Guess I need to find a replacement.

The rain was never to heavy, so the ride was still enjoyable.

You seriously need to pitch your skills to either a book, tv series, movie. This shouldn't be free.

In. You are doing something I would like to do on my Alaska trip- see northern california, oregon, and washington. I have lived in Cali for about 10 years of my life, but all of them in the southern half. Definitely great on the photography side as well.

How did that tamron 90mm macro turn out for you? Im considering that, a tokina 105mm macro, or a sigma 150mm macro. I havent decided as they all have their pluses and minuses.

Post 28, black and white pic (2nd picture down). How? Im assuming the vignetting is post, but I dont get how you keep the center sharp while giving the rest an "in motion" appearance. I would assume you would drop the shutter speed, but I would think it would come out differently... Dont want to expose your secrets, so answer if willing :D

Bring me more of my fix!

I like mine. I don't use it as much as I thought. It's nice and sharp, but close-up the depth of field is very shallow. DOF is something to consider as the longer focal lengths of the other 2 you mentioned will be even shallower.

Have you tried PicMonkey? It is an online photo editor. In Smugmug select "Edit in PicMonkey" from the tools. The effect I used for that photo is called Focal Zoom.

Great RR and photos so far! Can't wait to see the trip progress. Alaska is my current dream trip on my bike. It'll probably be a few years, but I'll eventually make it to Prudhoe Bay!

Wow. Spectacular photo! Not that the other ones weren't also spectacular, but this one just speaks to me.

We ride over the big bridge from Astoria, Oregon into Washington.

    [IMG]..........[IMG]

We don't have bridges like this in Arizona.

It's so damp and green here!

It's our first time out onto the Olympic Peninsula.
I had hoped to see the Hoh Rainforest, but there was just no time.
Hey! Now I have a reason to return, someday.

There was lot's of bear food along the road,
but we didn't see one bear in Washington.

So here we are in live action!

This is mostly video shot up to this point in the story. See why I love The Western Divide Highway?

Everyone (That includes YOU) MUST watch the video before I continue...

    I'm just kidding. (Sort of)

I actually discussed cutting out the Olympic Peninsula to save time since we were so far behind schedule.
Helen wouldn't hear of it. Something to do with a vampire movie series. Spooky!:uhoh

Uh oh! It's gonna be another late start as I try to sort out mechanical gremlins. I'm a KTM owner, so I'm used to it.
Maybe I'll discuss the bike problems later....

Anyway, It was about 10:30 Arizona time before we get rolling.

We head up Hurricane Ridge, which ended up being one of the best rides of the trip.

It was chilly at the top.

Port Angeles and the Strait of Juan de Fuca can be spotted through a hole in the sky. That's Canada across the water.

    In every direction are mountains.
