Yes. She is actually tougher that me. Thanks!

I hope this brings back a flood of memories. Thanks!

Our anniversary was the 2nd. Thanks, Kelly!

It is the 150, which has a different tread pattern than the 140. The wear really slows down once that center tread touches down. I think I've finally found the right tire for me.
Then again, I don't ride stuff like you and Matt. Bad things happened when I last tried.:D

Even though that last photo isn't from this report, it becomes related later...:evil

I should point out that we threw away the little orange camera in Fairbanks.

Most of the moving photography now is being done by Helen.

This is looking back at the Atigun River after starting the climb.

I slow down and move over into the slick stuff to give this truck the right-of-way.

It had rained here recently leaving a slick surface and reason to take it a little easy.

Great Pics...............I've done this trip myself and seen plenty of other ride reports,,,, your pictures are the best. My pics look like they were done with an old 110.(Actually some of them were.My first Dalton trip was in 1985 on an R65ls)...Anyway keep up the great work.

Back into the beautiful valley we ride.

We round a corner and are greeted by the promise of rain ahead.

We put on the rain gear, not knowing for sure how long the rain will last.

The rain doesn't last long so we stop to take off the rain gear.

Believe it or not, it wasn't cool enough for the additional layer.

    Helen checks the map.

Great, great stuff Dave! The Alaska ride is one that many aspire too, but few actually put together because of the immense time and distance considerations. Well done! :clap

    I wanna go...

    Thanks, RRR!

That's so cool that you rode this highway long before it was cool. Thanks!

Hi Diek! I hope you get to make it up there soon. You deserve it. I'd do it again.

Thanks for the nomination, Sherry! Do they ever change those pictures though? The Viola-tor has his mug up there.:thumb

Right after that photo was taken I gave Helen a hug and thanked her for coming along to share that moment.

As I stated earlier, the 2 hours of sleep was not enough. When I look back at the video of us blasting down
this highway, it scares me. My mind was wandering and concentrating on the road was near impossible.

We get back to Coldfoot and pull up to the fuel pumps. Helen slides off and says, "I'm done".
It's nice to be on the same page. I tell her that I think they have camping here.

By time I get inside after pumping gas, Helen has paid for camping and is carrying an armload of towels.
For $14 you can camp here. It includes showers in the workers camp building, 2 clean towels per person, soap, and shampoo.

    SCORE!

Everyone else is already asleep, so we set up as quietly as possible and then go take hot showers.

Did I mention earlier, Coldfoot is beautiful!

Our luck with the great weather has run out. We wake up to rain falling on the tent.
That's okay. We only plan to get back to Fairbanks today. The other campers are all gone by time we get up.

Still on the Dalton. Does the scenery ever end? Nope.

It rains off and on. The calcium chloride treated roads are SLICK!

Ours was the 2nd, too! :D
    Great minds think alike?

OK, the 150 seems to do better.
Matt corrected me - our 140 was destroyed after 2000 miles, not 3 like I thought.

    Oooh. I hope you didn't have a 2up "rock nap"... :eek1

    Your photos are killing me!!
    they're SO good.

They do change them every so often or at least add photos. Viola-tor's photo on the front page is one of my favorite. :D

The rainbow picture is stiking and it speaks to me. It's calling me to go ride that road.

Giving Helen a hug and thanking her for sharing that moment with you is so cool. I'm envious of the couples that get to share adventures like this together. Seeing all the spectacular sites of the world alone is pretty great but being able to share those places and sights with someone you love is even better. :thumb

    Waiting anxiously for more.:lurk

The panorama software stitched the bridge in an arc. It is very straight in reality.
