We use the Amarillo in our pale ale, just couldn't get it on contract this year since it's our first year contracting. We really like the Mandarina's but same issue as the Amarillos, though they were available on the spot market for something ridiculous like $17 / lb

A collab for the ADV crowd would be awesome. I know there's more than a few brewers in the Northwet that are on this board.

Yep the Mandarina's are crazy expensive.. I picked up 6 boxes to play with any way. I am brewing up a Blonde with Hull Melon today. Lets keep the Collab idea open. Are there any other brewers interested in the idea?

^ So it looks like we have 3 people in so far. I would be happy to come down your way for the 1st one. It would be fun to tie the release in with a Rally or something.

As for today I am brewing up a Imperial IPA that I do one batch of every year. Each year the IBU goes up by 1 and I add another hop variety. This year we are at 114 IBUs and 14 different hop varieties and additions.

Also we are releasing our Imperial Honey Coconut Porter today.

Im brewing up another new hop test batch today. This one is with Saphir. Also blending out barrel aged CDA with a vanilla mocha porter. It'll continue to age in barrels with cocoa nibs and some other goodness.

I am currently setting up waypoints on my GPS to do the RateBeer Top 100 Breweries road trip on my GS. There are 70+ on that list plus more that are not yet on the list that are in the USA and Anchorage Brewing waypoint makes it even more interesting. I plan on departing late spring going down the coast then east to Florida, then Maine, Colorado, up to Alaska and wrapping it up at the two breweries in Seattle that made the list.

This inspired me but the list is out of date:

Any breweries that you know of that is not on the RateBeer 100 list that need attention?

Looks like you could hit Bale Breaker in Yakima. You need something in between OK and AZ,, that's a long,,,dry spell, and between Surly and Oskar Blues... I'll see what I can find.

Firestone Walker, definitely. And if you're going up Hood River to Logsdon, gotta hit Pfriem. Standing Stone in Ashland is a great stop on the way south

    THAT IS AWESOME!!

I have some friends that went to Arizona Wilderness today and said that they had the best IPA that they have had since leaving the PNW. With around 4,500 breweries in the U.S. you will find lots of hidden gems.

I am thinking about riding down for the Anderson Valley Fest at the end of April this year. I have wanted to go for years and they are celebrating 20 years this year.

This has been a dream of mine as well. Somehow never end up making it, but if you end up planning the ride, let me know. May have my sales guy drive down our kegs and draft equipment in the van, so we could potentially have a support vehicle too...... Dan, whadda yah think? We could throw some of those shiny new cold fire kegs in too.....

While you are in the Seattle area you should visit the Kitsap peninsula. We have a myriad of excellent breweries, with Sound Brewery topping my personal list.

I live in Seattle and have been to all those Kitsap breweries. The challenge is finding all the good ones that did not make the RateBeer 100 best brewery list.

I've been to the Strange Brew fest many times but didn't make it this year. I really miss when it used to be at Water Street. We received our new custom built Foeder today. Time to get funky.. Next fest for me will be Hops & Props at the museum of flight. It's always a good one.

Hey Brewers, have you heard of the Flying Bike Co-Op Brewery here in Seattle? I am member #905 there and entered my Porter in their brewing competition. Out of 18 entries in a blind tasting my brew won the competition. It will soon be brewed there by Kevin Forhan on the 7Bbl system at Flying Bike as their house Porter.
I just sat down with him today to scale the recipe up to large scale production and can't wait to help him brew it. Kevin is a great brewer and it will be fun to brew on a big system.
My batches are roughly 12 gallons.
