    Hi all.

I thought it may be useful to post the odd weather observations that may help others on the move. Of course we are in the grip of a storm that means most of us are hunkered down so photos of outside would be good.

I'm 1 hour north of wellington on the west coast. The wind has just arrived, no snow and the temp has fallen. Hardly very dramatic yet.

    cheers

Windy and wet in Picton, there's some big gusts rattling the chimney and flaring up the fire. :D

Got the motorbike tied to the fence, a few weeks back it walked off it's stand in the middle of the night, thankfully it missed the concrete and landed on the lawn.

Fine and sunny in Rotorua, barely a breath of wind.

You lot in Wellington wouldn't be so good as to hold onto that southerly storm until after our lunchtime swim, would you? I don't want the rain diluting my mulled wine :*sip*

Thin layer of cloud here in Richmond/Nelson, quite warm.

Drove from Christchurch yesterday, Lewis closed due to snow so had to go Kaikoura way. A lot of snow driving after Cheviot, deep snow between wheel tracks. yeehhaaa

No doubt you lot have seen the TV news & stuff.. Here's some photos. Johnsonville copped it. I had to go to work briefly last night & thought the roof was about to peel off. I'm home today, which I am quite pleased about. Traffic had a lot of issues this am, & so I think a lot people won't have made it to work. Schools were closed but are starting to re-open. Loads of people without power. Fortunately we didn't have the issue here, though we did have lots of surges where we thought things were going out.

Lots of storm wreck & trees down around the suburb when I was out & about this am. I know the Countdown lost their signage.

We lost an olive tree, lots of branches on other trees, & part of a fence, but are somewhat protected from the southerly.

The wind levels have dropped from last night, & it isn't raining at present. Still unpleasant & cold.

Thought you'd appreciate a look at the damage on the Wellington South Coast. We drove that area today - it's passable but still pretty rough.

Hell yer, thats some damage alright.

We missed most of it here in Picton, a bit of wind, rain and a very light dusting of snow.
