I'll work on it. Busy doesn't even begin to describe my life right now. Just come to the housewarming party and save me the trouble!

I just re-read the thread, looking at the pics on my new Nexus 7, after keeping up on my phone in the mean time

The work the site and septic guy did really stands out, it looks as excellent as you described. I've been thinking about a icf garage. Might be a nice place to get stuff done.

    Congratulations on the housewarming party!

Well, we won't set any records for late parties, but we had a little over 80 people show up, including several ADVers... Nikons, A-bone, UrbanCowboy, Goingcomando... We had a lot of fun and I wish I had more time to chat with folks. And I probably had a bit too much to drink. :lol3 Someone kept feeding me some sort of liquor....
GoingCommando wins the prize for leaving last. :deal

Excellent thread! I was at your party in spirit. Hoping your new "house" becomes your "home".

    Friggin right. :lol3

Pretty awesome to put faces/real names to more people on here. Though, my internet anonymity is slowly decreasing, but hey, good party, good food, good drink (had the tri-fecta of kegged beverages).

And, now that I'm home, watching some Jurassic Park and going to sleep sounds like waaaay better of an idea than Cavin' it. :lol3

    Funny that this got bumped.

Winter was pretty comfortable, and we had a particularly cold one. :deal

If there's a downside, it's the large windows and doors we put in the main living area. They seem to be exceptionally tight, but you can definitely feel that the room is cooler because of them. Given all the light we get, and the view out into the woods, I'd do the same thing again. We're looking for some nice thermal shades to put down at night for next winter.

I got sick of burning propane halfway through the winter so I shut that off and just burned wood. It was really easy to heat the entire house with the woodstove. Basement would get a little chilly- like 60 or so? I could easily keep the rest of the house at 70. There were a few times I got it over 80 being a little bit too aggressive with the fire.

We're working on landscaping now so it'll look a little nicer by Fall.

Probably. If not ICFs I'd still want extra-thick walls. I like how quiet the house is, I like the deep window sills, and obviously I like the efficiency.

For what it's worth- my crew is starting an ICF house in the next week or so.
