BTW, I'm not nearly as hardcore as my previous post might imply, but us non-retired, family dudes have to get our riding in when we can, not when Ole' Mother says we can :D

Sorry Kent, my day pass won't get me that far, but I'll keep you in mind for a 2 day trip. TC is a great town. I'd love to learn of some good two tracks up there.

BTW, my week long trip has us spending the night at Cycle-Moore on June 25th. Stop by for a beer! We'll be the motley bunch of old guys, young studs, Harley guys and dual sport riders :D

I am headed to Southern IN to ride Ride OR DIE 3 this weekend. I am glad it will be raining Friday as the dust from 22 bikes will be bad otherwise.

Congrats on your retirement Charlie:clap. Now you can fix everyones stuff but your own:D.

Of course I'll be in the shop....since i don't have to work for the Man any more. Jeez, if I am an owner of the shop, does that make me 'the Man" now?? aauuugggggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Not sure when I'll get over there. Got a few errands to run. Got to get to the sign shop that is doing up our logo for our decals, etc.

If you head south, give us a shout.

BTW, we need to plan a road trip. The Craft Brewery/Pub my other son works at was named the 24th top brewery...in the world!! Oh, yeah....its in Colorado Springs.:freaky

:clapThats awesome! I want a shirt with a large logo on the back and a small one on the front, 50/50 not 100% cotton. A hooded sweatshirt too. Maybe add Galesburg Mich to the bottom? Hows that first day off going Mr T? I retired on the last day of May too. The next three months were like one long vacation. I love all the time off. I never was a worker bee. My wife says I am the drone bee.

Get a fair amount of thanks. And yeah, contrary to some political factions opinions on gov't salries, I had been offered jobs at $20-30,000 more per year in the private sector...with better benefits to boot. But let me tell you a little story.

Ted and I were on one of our two week road trips a couple of years ago and got a bit lost, ending up in the SE corner of Kansas at some little one horse town. We stopped to fuel up and figure out where in the hell we were. As usually would happen on these back road towns, when we stop, folks would come over and check out the bikes, ask us where we were from, where we were going,, etc.

A gentleman around my age came up and started asking us the usual questions. He was wearing VN Veterans baseball cap.On his cap were pins indicating a CIB and a purple heart. We talked for a minute about the bikes, our trip and then I commented on his cap, mentioning that I was a PA on the medical staff at a VA back home. Turns out he was a patient at a VA out-patient clinic and his provider was a PA. We talked a bit more about things in general. When it got time to leave I put out my hand and told him to take care of himself. As we shook hands, he said "Thanks for taking care of us." Him, thanking me?? Seemed backwards to me.

When something like that happens, or when an old guy who had both legs blown of stepping on a mine landing at Anzio or the Marine who lost a finger on Guadalcanal and the whole arm on Iwo tell you thanks for taking care of them...well like that ad says, that's priceless. Meant more to me than another $20-30K per year. The hardest part of clearing station yesterday wasn't the uncertainty of the future, wasn't saying good-by to co-workers I've known for 20+ years, but going around the ward and saying good-by to my guys, some of who I've taken care of for the last 8-10years or more

As soon as we get the logo finalized, then we will start looking around and pricing hats, t-shirts, etc, etc. Not sure about it feeling like a vacation as starting next week we are expanding shop hours.... T-F Noon to 8pm, Sat 10am to 6-7-8pm or whenever. Closed Sun-Mon. But you know what, maybe it will change, but working at the shop isn't like working at all. Went to pick up some parts at a dealers here and the guy at the counter tells me they had a couple of guys stop in and ask them if they knew when that vintage bike clubhouse in Galesburg was open. Took him a few minutes to figure out that that club house was our shop. That's just the atmosphere we had hoped to create at the shop, so I guess we are succeeding in that aspect.:D

I took a nice ride down to Checkered Past Cycles yesterday. Good time with Charlie and Steph and we even grabbed some lunch at Bell's in Kzoo :clap

The ride there was fine, just drizzle and mist, but the ride home was when the rain really hit. Once your crotch gets wet it's all over. :huh

Folks. I'm in need of someone with some tree cutting skills for a small job near Kingsley on Arbutus Lake. I have a large tree limb hanging up high near our cottage, and I have a smaller tree leaning over a neighboring cottage. They both need to come down without damaging either structure.

We're not on site right now but can explain it in detail over the phone. If you can do it or you can refer me to someone that you know, it would be much appreciated to hear from you via PM.

    Thanks.

Twas a beautiful morn for a egg mcmuffin and a ride in the country. There were a couple of guys at the drive-up in a pickup with a pair of KTM Enduros in the back. Anyone here? I cut through the GVSU campus and watched the cycle safety class for a while. They were riding cute little Suzuki 250s. Looked like fun. I got home just in time to see Verlanders first pitch go over the fence. :cry
