Not at all, not any more than GoldWing haters, any Asain bike hater, etc. Goldwingsare only land barges for old men? So Harleys are only for pirate wannabes?

A bike is just a bike, its the rider completes its image that others see. And while stereotypes do have some basis in reality, they are just stereotypes and nothing more.

Valkyrie specs from Motorcycle Consumer News
MCN is a reputable magazine which doesn't accept advertising and has no reason to favor any brand.

100.0 hp, "SAE corrected rear-wheel horsepower"
102.3 lb.ft. "SAE corrected rear-wheel torque"
0 - 1/4 mile... 12.02 sec @110.7mph
0 - 60 mph..... 3.86 sec
0 - 100 mph.... 9.96 sec
60 - 0 mph .... 107.4'

2013 Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 Custom 0-60 mph 4.2 Quarter Mile 12.9

and for a comparison
2007 Harley-Davidson FXDSE Screamin' Eagle Dyna 0-60 mph 4.2 Quarter Mile 12.3

Of course, none of that takes in rider ability. Nor does it factor in things such as weight. WHy do you think the sporty is as quick as the Screaming eagle Dyna in the 0-60 time?A major factor is weight. The old rule of thumb as 10lbs = 1hp in accleration times.

SO oyu 1200 SPorty, being roughly 200lbs lighter than your uncle's Valkyrie should in terms of acceleration from a standing start be a lot closer to the Valkyrie than the on paper hp figures may suggest. Without taking into account rider weight or rider ability.

So tell me, just how is this Harley "bashing". If you just state facts/experiences that's bashing? If you don't worship at the Holy Shrine of Harley then anything you say that doesn't glorify the breed above all else, then that is bashing????

our little 250 interceptor gives away 450cc and 50hp to our 700 interceptor, yet up to about 75mmph, the run neck-n-neck. But at that point the 250 is shifting into 5th and the 700 hits 3rd and leaves the 250 in the dust. THe 0-60 times can be deceiving. 0-100 gives a bit more of a better glimpse of performance.

Oh, and our customized 1982 GOldwing 1100 can take the Valkyrie in head up straight line run....bu then again the 1100 now weighs close to 180lbs less than the Valkyrie after we got done with it.

SO please, feel free to resume the Goldwing bashing, based on the apparent definition of bashing being used.

I'm not hating on any bikes, I just can't wait to see Than on his Goldwing wearing the standard "Wingwear" as he scrapes his floorboards. You know, velcro shoes or penny loafers, medium blue jeans with pleats, Members Only jacket with a pack of Dorals in the pocket, and, to top it off, a Kenny Rogers t-shirt from the casino show. I just can't see him all pirated out.

Than, you get a babysitter for Thursday? :freaky

Crazy but went riding this afternoon.
The TW200 has great big fat tires.
All Good. Now have to research if there is enough wattage from the bike to power some heated gear.

We've got a ton of snow over here by the lake. I keep imagining I hear bikes going by on Lakeshore Dr. I must be going crazy.

I might do a little ride in the neighborhood on the DR this weekend just to get out.

Not bad Charlie but hearing that little 125 go through the gears was better than hearing Bing Crosby sing White Christmas.

I was in Daytona in 73 when the torch was being passed from the four strokes to the two strokes. I remember being in the parking lot and hearing the brit bikes and japp bikes and Harleys going down the front straight during practice. That was music to the ears. :ear:strum:

Who won that year? Winner gets a cup of coffee and a day old donut at Charleys bike boutique.
