Will miss you at the Spring rides. A few of us were playing around East Jordan this weekend and I thought about the time you and Lisa fed me and Kawasaki Rob dinner. Have fun down there!

You've drank the kool-aid and that's ok. Read my post again. I even placed quotation marks around my point I was trying to make.
I left the fire protection business in May and now I work at the largest production based body shop north of Grand Rapids. I haven't seen a single vehicle that has caught fire because of it's fuel source. That doesn't mean I haven't seen any vehicles that have burned. Guess what causes those fires? That's right, the electrical components being compromised.

Oh yeah, I think it's awesome that you used NFPA as one of your source links since that code book kept me employed for the last 10 years. :deal:super

Planning a Camp & Ride Fall Color Tour this weekend Friday night to Sunday at CycleMoore Campground located in Interlochen.

There will be a Street Adventure ride for BigBikes leaving from the Campground at 10:00am Saturday morning. We will be riding Leelanau County Sleeping Bear Dunes area. Expect 100+ miles of street curves and 50+ miles of gravel & easy Seasonal roads. Lunch stop TBD.

And I believe another ADV inmate is leading a separate dirt-only ride on Saturday also. This ride is more for the offroad riders on street legal plated MX bikes.

Ride the gravel farm roads in the Port Oneida area. There are deserted farms on all those back roads and it's all part of the national park. There is one road just off of 22 that is closed because it's a little flooded but you can get through if you don't mind getting a little wet.

Canceling the Camp & Street ADV Ride because of rain forecast for Friday & Saturday.
May postpone to weekend of Oct 13-15 if weather is decent.

UNCLE!.....I give up....Topped off the tank, added some Stabil and put the baby to bed for a few months. All I gotta do is cancel the insurance and load up the van for our annual migration south. Cya

Wow don't give up so easy! MotoChron and I got out for a fantastic ride last weekend, the week before Mrs KTM and I spent the weekend camping and riding all over the Pigeon river area and the NE. This coming weekend I'm hoping to get out again. After that, well the bang bang sticks will be out in force, so I MIGHT be done, then again, I've had some fantastic rides in December. Hell, I may mount the Trellborgs on the 450 and keep going until the snow is axle deep!

Snowing in Branch right now. Can't wait to get out of here late December and get to NM. Warm weather for 5 months and no snow other than way up in the mountains.

If I had the ability to head south for the winter, I'd absolutely do it as well!

...I go to the Florida Coast which isn’t motorcycle friendly unlike S New Mex where Branch goes....but it is sunnier and warmer. I bring my bicycle and kayak and will have a great winter. There are advantages to getting old and warm winters are one of them.

    1Trakr,

Hi, my name is Bill, I'm in Grand Rapids.

I noticed you attended the Hoosier National Forest event in October. I was thinking about heading down there tomorrow to run some of the trails and roads for a few days before winter sets in.

Was it worth the trip down there? I'm trailering either my Africa Twin (preferred), or my WR250R.

I'll be solo, so I won't tackle any super knarly stuff, but I would enjoy moderate two-track as well as gravel roads. It's really just a case of wanting to be in the woods in temps greater than 40 degrees!

    Thanks,

PS. Where in West Michigan are you located?

    Bill

Oh, by the way, another possibility is Land Between the Lakes, around Paducah, Kentucky. Has anyone from this forum run the roads and trails down there?

    Thanks,

    Bill

1TRAK has a great library of places to visit in the Hoosier National Forest, so be sure to check with him for ideas.

If you base camp at Hardin Ridge Campground on Lake Monroe, you are in the middle of some awesome gravel & paved curves.

Here are a few places I would recommend to visit:

    Tunnelton Tunnel
    Tulip Trestle Viaduct
    Browning Bridge
    Hickory Ridge Fire Tower
    Yellowwood State Forest
    Story - HWY 135
    Cave River Valley
    Devil's backbone
Hwy 450 from Bedford to Shoals

The Covered Bridge Tour is fun too.
