Just a quick intro here to let everybody know I've put together some Dual Sport maps and roll chart type direction sheets for some great riding areas in western North Carolina. I'm a native to the area and while I by no means know every road around here, I've found and explored quite a good percentage of them. I've got four maps out right now and I'm working on a fifth for a loop in the Hot Springs, NC area. Eventually I hope to have about 12 maps out, hence the map series title "The WNC Dirty Dozen". Anyway, I've got a basic webpage up with options to purchase via Paypal here: www.wncdirtydozen.com

Please check it out and ask any questions and/or give feed back at will.

    Thanks, John Thompson

p.s. I also have the maps for sale at my workplace in Asheville, NC at: Black Dome Mtn. Sports 140 Tunnel Rd. Asheville, NC 28805

Just added a new map to the series. It's a great figure 8 loop centered around Hot Springs, NC. Check it out on the webpage. www.wncdirtydozen.com.

I see during checking out there's a small charge added for shipping. Are these paper maps/directions or GPS files.

I'm only really interested in GPS files.

They're paper maps but have key GPS waypoints listed for use with a GPS. I wanted to have something that would work for people with or without a GPS. Possibly in the future I'll have another option for GPS files of the rides as well. Thanks.

Cool! We're heading up to the area in a couple of weeks (from FL) and have been looking for a little dual sporting. Riding pigs, so appreciate commentary on maps. May place order for a couple of maps in a few days. What is turnaround time for orders?

Also, it would be handy to see 1 larger map that shows general location for these routes? Thanks for the effort!

Thanks for the feedback. Turnaround time is one day or less to ship out US mail from North Carolina. Usually total of a week or less from the day you order to in your hands. The larger overview map of the rides is an idea I've had for the website, but just haven't got around to it yet, but I need to soon. I agree that would be a help to anybody not somewhat familiar with the area.

Just FYI, I just finished my latest map in the series, so I'm now 1/2 way to the dozen goal! Put together a great loop 1/2 hour south of Asheville in the Dupont Forest area. Check it out at www.wncdirtydozen.com Preview of title page here:

I'm going to be heading to WNC next weekend and would like to break in the new bike - should I order online, or just hit Black Dome to make sure I get them in time? I live in Durham, so delivery time is probably not an issue, I just want to make sure :)
