I need a track viewer that can be used with gpsKevin's 2016 TAT Gpx/tracks that

    A. Has offline maps

    B. Shows has gas stops, food and lodging that are waypoints inside the Gpx

    C. That supports his use of different colors to Indicate the difficulty of options route choices

    D. And is in general a top notch app that's easy to use.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

if that is one of the same files that have been floating around here the last few weeks I would suggest you open it in basecamp or somthing and clean it up first.

Then get osmand, locus or a fwe others. They all do what you want.

    a) b) c)locus, osmand, bcnavigator, maverick, lots more

    d) the more features that are piled on, the steeper the learning curve. I use locus for everything, because it handles waypoints and tracks so incredibly well, along with its really good routing/planning interface.

you will find locus has a very steep curve, but after a week of use, becomes very powerful.

I have looked at the file in Mapsource and it is fine. The file however includes OPTIONAL paths along the way and designates them as standard (blue), easy (green) and hard (red). In Mapsource all three of these show as different colors as programmed by Kevin but in Osmand, they all show as one color. Is there any way to get the right colors to show in each?

Also in Mapsource, food shows as an image of knives and forks, lodging is a bed and gas is a gas pump. In Osmand, each show as a red Texaco star rather than the image Kevin intended. Is there a way to get this sorted out so you can see at a glance what is ahead of you?

Use Locus. Seriously, first and foremost the lack of a screen lock, OsmAnd has none, thus its useless if it rains. Every drop manipulates the screan, changes settings basically makes it go haywire.

Plus OsmAnd isn't the most stable creature.

I actually prefer OsmAnds mapping and routing, but the ONLY reason that I use it is bluetooth channels, I need a phone stream for my senas, OsmAnd has it, Locus only has media and notification. Its not an issue when I am solo but I am in the middle of a two week trip two up and my girl turning on the intercom stomps navi instructions without that call audio stream in Locus.

So I am stuck with switching apps back and forth due to weather. It only takes a minute, but its still annoying.

I am a new Osmand user. I have found that if I copy a gpx file with multiple tracks to the Osmand area, it seems to combine all the tracks into one. So I have been having to break the file up into a separate one for each track. Is there any way around this? I don't mind the color change. It is easy to change colors to what I want.

This would be a killer for the TAT.

@wbbnm you can open the gpx file in ITN converter
you can look inside to see if there are bunch of tracks or just 1 big one
if it is a bunch of little ones you can use ITN to save just the single track and then import that into OSMAND 1 at a time.
That should give you what you want.

Or you can post the file up here and we can look at it and see.

Thanks. I knew there were a bunch of tracks in the file since I created it with all the tracks for a week long trip. I used Basecamp and Mapsource to create the file. I was also able to use these to create the individual gpx files with one track each. It was just kind of a pain. I was wondering if there is some way to tell Osmand to treat all the tracks separately.

I will check into ITN, but is suspect it will be about the same amount of work as I had to do with Mapsource.

I see there is a feature called Split Interval in the Track Details window. I don't have the slightest idea what this is yet. It looks like it does whatever splitting it does based on a time interval.
I don't know if this would be useful or not for this issue.

    Yeah, that is an issue.
Once you build them into a single track, well thats what you have is a single track.
I think one of the reasons they were build with all of the small tracks is so you could shut them off or turn them on, or what ever.

the split interval might work for you. Let us know what you have found out.

I bet you could request that feature and the lodevs would implement it in the next point update.

or maybe not, for some weird reason.

the sena -talking all the time thing is weird to me personally, I don't understand how people do that during a ride. I have watched people fuck with those communicators almost as much as is required to keep a Garmin on track, so I guess it's just a learned thing. ;-)

Yeah, the screen lock on OsmAnd was requested back a while ago, I found a thread on gethub.

So far as the sena goes, its just the girl and I, and her I don't mind having in my ear.

Of course, this is only an issue because my powered mount is broken, if I didn't have to run it under my tank bag I wouldn't care about the voice prompts

so the Bluetooth thing is how you're getting everything(music/directions) from the device, bit doesn't allow for talking to her Bluetooth thing at the same time?

sorry, I really know very little about them

    Yeah I am all spoiled.

So its a channel priority thing.

The phone channel interupts everything, its also what Garmin uses on thier BT connected devices.

    Intercom sits in the middle

Music and media is the bottom of the order.

So with gmaps or osmand I acan set call audio and all bis well.

Locus doesn't have this so its something of a bother.

Again. Mainly an issue becuase my powered mount is broken, and I can't keep my navi on the bar in the rain with USB charging....and the girl is on the back.

    good explanation, got it, thanks.

I ran into a similar issue a free weeks ago. the Bluetooth speaker I was using needed Google maps set to "pay over Bluetooth" set in its settings... which I hasn't noticed before. so I had Google maps, and a book on tape, using the same BT speaker. it was pretty sweet of a setup for traveling. normally I use airplane mode to restrict calls/texts when I can't respond (refuse to respond, I'm riding) to them in a safe manner anyway. does the phone mode still allow communication between you and your lady if it's in airplane mode?

Sure does, the call audio cuts everything while active then it falls back down to intercom if active, to media if no intercoms are running.

You can also share call and media audio between paired headsets....but I haven't had the need.

I've settled on Osmand and while the learning curve is steep, I think I have it all sorted out now. Thanks!
